Drake's has a nice raincoat this season. Raglan sleeved, detachable hood, cool ticket pocket, and belted closure

The coat looks like a traditional "Riding Mac" usually made of rubberized cotton.
Very stiff and truly waterproof.

I received a navy overcoat from Spier and Mackay recently. It is my first coat of this variety and I've been enjoying the garment immensely. It fits in with my CM wardrobe and it's been keeping me warm on the days when the temperatures drop into the 30s.

I hope Simon lowered the buttoning point, went for lapped sleeve seams and substituted a welt breast pocket for the flap pocket in the first iteration. He seems responsive to customer feedback.

Are there particular details that differentiate an officer's coat from other overcoats (Ulster, etc)? I've been doing some reading but can't seem to find a consensus on this
