You've got me worried* now, as that show - what with the riffs at the beginning and the fireworks at the end - could be considered Hedi's swan song? Please someone tell me I'm being pessimistic.

* worried because of how much of Hedi's Celine catalogue I want to be able to add to my collection in due course.
Wow, I quite like this show. The music is great. Super wearable and just looks good. No surprise Hedi launching riding boots. It is interesting the juxtaposition of Hedi's clothes and those classical sculptures. Those "classical" clothes were once trendy back in the day too.

The asymmetry in the cut kind of reminds me of Helmut Lang

Hedi doubling down on the western belt, I quite like it

Cool riding boots look. Way more French looking than Bottega Veneta's monstrosity.

It does have a heel so more like a combination with cowboy boot.

Very cool

Love skinny jeans tucked into riding boots. I like how the pinstripe blazer is dressed down. Again this is Hedi trying to match the wavelength of modern casual fashion. Easier to sell the idea of the blazer being a layering piece than a full suit.

I really want to say the collections are pretty unisex. Girls who want the logo heavy stuff will get the mens pieces, and men who want less logo heavy stuff will get the women's pieces.

I could see a guy stealing this entire look

Hedi has a crying fetish? I would lick the tears off her face.

First South Asian model on an Hedi runway? Hedi upping his diversity game.

I wouldn't be surprised. I caught CELINE wishing Marc Jacobs happy birthday the other day on IG stories, which was weird even though he was in full CELINE look...

There's always some hidden meanings in Hedi's soundtrack. His final menswear show for SLP declared "She's Gone" and perhaps this show is he's way of saying that his experience at CELINE has all been a daydream (or a nightmare lol)?

Anyways, I thought this show was a great summary of his prior offerings. You see SS 19 nightclubbing reflected in the full black looks and the glittery dresses; FW 19 modern bourgeois in the denim gauchos and dark academia looks; SS 21 monaco in the all the crop tops and streetwear looks; and teen knight poem in the 80s oversized leather vests and outerwear. There's also all the "french" staples of breton tops and bohemian dresses.

He's redefined the CELINE vocabulary and showed you how to implement it here, similar to what he did SS 21.

Maybe he'll switch it up for 22 or maybe he's over it. I sure hope it's the former

Having just watched the show, and re-reading this:

I don't hate this silhouette for men. A guy could literally wear this entire look. It feels so fresh and modern in 2021 compared to the fw13 silhouette.

2nd South Asian model?

These couture pieces are too fancy for me, so I don't know how to appreciate it.

The Celine girl is very connected with nature. Almost elements like a Disney princess where animals just come close to her.

I heard they are not producing the riding boots for men but I prefer women's western knee high version anyways lol

I feel like Hedi is hitting his stride, so it would be a shame for him to leave now after so many people were **** talking him. I feel like he has found a way to combine his love for tailoring and his love for youth that connects with the modern luxury consumer.

His image of the Celine girl is so different than Saint Laurent girl. They have two different personalities.

Definitely sharing pieces between men’s and women’s, ranger boots, sneakers, that riding/western boot, grey zip hoodie, oversized leather vests ...

Yet still very Parisian. We can still see the VP girls in Parade

The Celine boy and girl is cultured and into poetry. I'm neither so I don't really appreciate it.

"SON REGARD EST PAREIL AU REGARD DES STATUES."
PAUL VERLAINE
MON RÊVE FAMILIER

"MA JEUNESSE NE FUT QU’UN TÉNÉBREUX ORAGE, TRAVERSÉ ÇÀ ET LÀ PAR DE BRILLANTS SOLEILS."
CHARLES BAUDELAIRE
L’ENNEMI

"J’AI SEUL LA CLEF DE CETTE PARADE SAUVAGE."
ARTHUR RIMBAUD
PARADE

Paul's poem gives me this needy feeling. Innocence. Trying to find love. Be loved. There is this neediness. Insecurity. Human.
1618414928087.png

Charles' poem sounds very emo and there is this underlying victim complex. Woe is me. Angsty. Human.
1618414695074.png

I have no clue what's going on with Rimbaud's poem which looks like regular prose. Feels like he is writing in code. Is all of this chaos in his mind? Is that why he holds the key to this parade? Funny how Parade is also the name of one of the Celine fragrances.

Celine girl just fills a gap in the market. Parisian, sophisticated, but with an edge. Not every girl wants to be a Saint Laurent girl.

Loved the show. Beautiful, enchanting entrance and really feeling the boots and bohemian, gentry feel but with that nouveau energy that's been bolstering the brand post Dancing Kid.

I read about LVMH's continuing success today in the WSJ (#1 most valuable company in Europe now), and there's been an 86% increase in sales compared to 2020 in the Asian market (excluding Japan). That's incredible and shows the sagacity of their pivot. Of course, they might be slightly vulnerable to some of the governmental sensitivities in the market; however, the French are usually very good about decorum. ;)
