It's funny, those types of loafers I associate with three groups, too:
  • Japanese school girls look
  • UK adolescents/teens trying to look like the gentry
  • Old overweight guys in the US with no socks thinking about golf

I think this is so true. It’s kind of like square-toed shoes in the UK; even though so many designers have showed them over the last few years, here they retain a perennial association with what might be termed the lower middle classes. The first sartorial lesson anyone who doesn’t want to be ridiculed in a British office learns is black cap toe oxfords and no pockets on your shirt. Never say never, but I can’t ever see myself wearing square toe shoes

Not mad at how these single monk Jacnos crease. They look so supple.

Proportions of the ss19 double breasted suit look. I'm definitely not used to it as I prefer shorter jackets.

Thorns what length were the longer AW15 blazers, were they 73cm? I wouldn't buy one but those looked okay, but then they were a much sleeker overall shape.

I think proportionally, the fw15 jackets look better. I suspect due to a couple of factors.
  • models wearing 85 mm heels to elongate their already long legs
  • They "exposed" their legs so the length of the jacket isn't that emphasized
  • Visually you get to see that beautiful short torso to leg ratio
  • the fw15 Jacket length might be shorter than ss19, based on sleeve length to body length ratio

It felt serious and uptight, even though the models were wearing 85 mm heels. But, I feel like society is slowly moving away from this serious look for "fashion". I feel like the ss19 look is Hedi's attempt to elevate the whole oversized look trend. It is cooler to not be so uptight nowadays. "It's not that serious, man."

Based on silhouette, the fw15 guy can't escape the fact that he is exposing how much he cares about the way he looks. The ss19 guy's silhouette is much more louche and effortless.

I can imagine a reality where one day this jacket length would look so outdated, and everyone wanting that ss19 one.

I think the good thing with the 69cm length blazers is that they're not super cropped like the old DH 2005 cropped blazers with no back vent. On most people they look fairly conservative but just short enough to look stylish. If someone is like 6'2 and a 46 then they start looking runway. On most people of normal height and build they look conservative enough for any business environment (the 2 button notch lapel jackets at least).

My memory is a bit hazy, but I have this memory of reading that Hedi had the fw15 models wear heel lifts in their French 85s to even further boost their height.
