Had a minute to stop into the bond st store the other day, tried on a few different things from the fw24 collection (big drop forthcoming in Oct).

Fits are nice, especially the cropped gray blazer and the carnaby.

I was impressed with some of the leathers and took this one home, which is right in my wheelhouse (western-ish). Really like the feel of this one, reminds me a bit of the great SLP mouton l17s in ‘16 in terms of grain and substance…

@GG Allin yeah I agree, not so keen on most of what I've seen at Celine but this one is a big exception.
I only have the loose (or Paul) blouson from Celine and it's really great as well.

Not sure if people are hip to this amazing site, but they have full scans of fashion publications. They only have one from Hedi slimane, but it covers his incredible dior fall 2006 collection. https://www.archivepdf.net/dior-homme-hedi-slimane-aw2006-these-grey-days-huge-special-issue

If anyone has links to more of these, please post them here

Am I the only one who gets strong Velvet Underground/Lou Reed/Andy Warhol/Factory vibes from many Celine items (especially leather ones, and this western-y jacket as well)? I am talking not about the presentation on the runway and obvious references here and there, but about the feel/look of products IRL. SLP stuff was not exactly like that.

Have you seen this one https://www.celine.com/en-int/celin...-soft-lambskin-2EG40280D.38NO.html?nav=E0013? Is it good, and how it compares to older 2019-20 A2 aviator with shearling collar?

I *might know what you’re getting at, here, but not quite sure.

I definitely see what you’re saying re: the western-y leather via downtown aesthetic, I think it’s there for sure.

Perhaps the clothes, like VU, have a bit more mature vibe? I always think of VU as being a band that was, opposed to more punk or collegiate, firmly rooted in a EU via downtown NYC aesthetic that was just more old world in origin. Certainly Cale and Reed were the kind of blokes who came from more traditional music backgrounds (both classical and pop).

Anyway - aside from the permanent collection, the SLP stuff often skewed quite young in style for the most part, the influences being more about celebrating various youth cultures with a definite vintage wink. Maybe the Celine stuff is just less ‘hip’?

Don’t think I’ve cracked it but I think I see something in what you’re saying…

I can say the same about sunglasses - those acetate frames feel (in hands) like they are both from 70s and 2020s somehow, and thickness of rims reminds me of those acetate sunglasses from the past.

In SLP collections only 2015 Paris sessions is kinda close, but I got mostly Nouvelle Vague cinema/Ascenseur pour l'échafaud from it, both from the show and pieces I saw IRL, but nothing reminded me of VU/Factory.

Yes, I see what you’re saying.

This western leather I picked up, I suppose it’s a bit ‘sleazy’ in a VU/factory kinda way, Venus in Furs et al.
Btw, do you know any reason why size 46 is so rare? I see many offers in 44/48/50/52, but rarely 46. DTOB also mentioned that

46 is what I almost always see displayed on the rack if available and seems to be the ideal size in that it’s not too slim like the 44 but not getting into medium territory such as 48 and definitely not 50. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s my gut feeling, and they get bought up fast at least in the boutiques that I’ve frequented (NY, Bev Hills, Paris).

If that's the case, why there are barely any 46 on the secondary market?
