If it’s the end then it is indeed a fitting closing. I think Hedi’s Celine was him at his best imho. An evolution and full circle that I don’t believe is fully appreciated. I loved and bought all his SL days and some of his Dior. At Celine lets own it, He shocked us with the tik tok show, AND then the Cosmic Cruiser with the elephant jeans (which Rick was doing for a second so I embraced it btw.) Never knew why some didn’t love it. BUT, looking back it was a cool break from his “same old, same old” that people complain about. Which we all love! And yet form mens many still didnt like it. Or a segment didnt.

And Boy Doll, is imho the most underappreciated collection and a testament to his genius. Partly due to COVID, but partly due to Hedi’s legacy, I don’t believe it was loved unfortunately. But that collection had oversized, skinny jeans and jackets, mommy jeans, couture bikers, coats and jeans, leggings, coats, and shearling that all easily can go with regular wear and it was seamlessly designed. And yet , it seemed like outside of the Asian market, no one liked it. So he experimented in men’s and based on forums (small sample but loud sample) no One liked it. They wanted “same old same old”. So they can say … same old, same old”?

Btw. I wonder why we never complain about Rick and his same old. Maybe cause he talks and embraces media? Even Rick was self aware to say he’s a bit of a fake. But he’s beloved.

Wiltern was the start of Hedi going back to his roots. In LA. Men’s and women’s. And we probably should have seen he was ready to go then. He added vicuña coats and tight tailoring. Which he should have shared the details With everyone. That collection for men was incredible. Couture to the hilt.

In between there was cool fragrances, cool bags and a women’s collection that was the epitome of quiet French luxury which drove Celine sales to UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS his owners wanted.

I think he has come full circle. And this collection isn’t palladium imho (I was at that show). no one was invited unlike palladium🤣. This is even tighter. Even more precise. But with a flair and stamp truly all his own. And yeah. I’m a Stan. So what can I say. Thank you Hedi foe a great six year ride … IF YOU ARE LEAVING 🤣🤣

That's cool you were at the palladium show. That collection has really grown on me over the years

I wonder if this disagreement over creative control involves Hedi slimane wanting to go with his more traditional aesthetic (that most people find boring) vs the more streetwear approach favored by the suits.

Most likely it has to do with money - He might be up for renegotiation and wants / deserves more for making the brand profitable which was the case at YSL, or it’s possible he was always supposed to just launch the brand and go about his way, but another reason is that Hedi is quite polarizing and not well liked in the business of fashion. His fans love him but he holds long standing grudges with critics and this can have a negative effect on the brand reaching its full potential from a marketing standpoint - think red carpet, gala events, access to more big names wearing the brand, wining and dining critics and journos etc. I’m sure the line of thinking is that once Hedi goes away the bean counters at Celine will be able to really whore the brand out and squeeze whatever juice the brand has left in it.

Yeah it was a fun time. Great show. And in typical Hedi fashion a fun after party. Palladium had a lot of great product!

This is actually a really good point, especially the latter half. It seems that he might be by nature an introvert, and it must be exremely painful having constant shallow interactions with journalist-types.

Is this Camargue or Drugstore, assuming not Jacno (due to heel and thickness of welt)
