I think Carmina sizing, at first, looks simple... but if you read into it, there are lots of strange variations. Makes buying difficult, much like with Vass.

I think folks should post a size or two in a shoe or two we all know, i.e. size X in Alden Barrie, or size X in C&J 348, etc. and then post their Carmina size in whatever last they own.

Fair enough:

US- 9 (AE lasts 8 and 0, close to 8.5 on the 5)

JL 7000- 8

Carmina (Inca)- 8 with JUST enough room in the toebox

Nice idea for a thread, but does anyone have experience with carmina's wide width options? I've been told that the forest last is the only one available in a wide, but only in mto.

I'm interested in branching out from C&J to Carmina so I'll be paying attention to this thread.

In terms of shape and fit, is the Simpson last more like the C&J 337 or 348?

I think its more like a 348.

C&J 348 337 341 - UK8.5E
Church's 173 108 - UK8..5F
Barker 396 - UK9FX
Cheaney 11028 205 - UK8.5
Alfred Sargent 724 - UK8.5, 104 - UK9
Grenson 96 - UK8.5
Romano Martegani 3B - US9.5
Carmina Simpson & Queen - 9, Rain - 8.5

Now this is a bit unusual as you and I wear the same size in the C&J, yet you are more comfortable in a half size smaller in the Simpson?

Great idea Spoo.

tim_horton:

All shoes leather and standard width unless otherwise stated:

C&J 337 - 10 UK
C&J 341 - 9.5 UK
Carmina Simpson Oxford - 10 UK
Carmina Simpson Chelsea boot - 9.5 UK
Carmina Rain Oxford - 9.5 UK
Carmina Forest Oxford and Blucher - 9.5 UK
Carmina Inca Chukka - 10 UK

My C&J 337 is a bit loose in 10UK but too tight in 9.5UK; my Carmina Simpson Oxford is comfortably snug in 10UK (which is how I like my shoes to fit.)

No. I wear half size bigger in the Simpson (size 9 instead fo size 8.5).
