SO how to size? Got this in 3/L and it's a standard/roomy fit. You said yours is quite fitted, and it works?

Only hesitating to buy the one from Hickoree's cus it's an M and their measurements say L has 16" shoulders. I'm usually a slim M or even S, but my stuffs got way larger shoulders than that, even.

I ordered a 2 from Understudy (should be here on Tuesday). I'm hoping it works out. I was wearing a 3Sixteen Type 3s with a chest of 19 and it was just a tad bit too tight for me. @ghostface has this jacket as well.

Here are the measurements they gave me for 2 & 3:

I am a pretty standard size 40, and the chore coat, in a size 3, fits me well. It is fitted but with a boxy (as opposed to a suppressed waist) fit however, and is meant to be that way. For me, measurements are often deceptive, since they miss important things. For example, the upper back measurement is nearly as important as the shoulders, but is never reported. My chose coat is quite slim across the lats. I don't have huge lats, but apparently, Japanese people have no back muscles at all.

I am not sure how Hickorees is measuring things, but a size 3 in Blue Blue Japan is about a 40. I've been thinking about getting a pair of their sashiko pants, but from what I've heard, unless yuu have no leg bulk at all, and are an assless wonder, you should size up.

The shoulders are often a confusing and misleading measurement Where the seam starts is important, but it depending on the design/cut of the shoulder and back, measurements can differ by a couple of inches and still "feel" the same. Remember that like your body, your clothes are 3-dimensional.

Sound advice. Have had issues with shoulder fit on Japanese Good's RMC,Freewheelers,Colimbo etc.
Tried on the BBJ coat at UM which was "snug" in a size 3. Ordered the size 4/XL from StyleBop and the fit is spot on (am a true 40 chest/32 waist) it's a little long in the sleeve maybe a 1/4" but will most likely just leave as is.

The fabric/weight/cut is outstanding (pants in this fabric would be very nice in a Gi style)

I have a 37" chest, but large lats and traps, almost 17" shoulders. The 3 fits me well in the shoulders, but I'm kinda swimming in it in the body. Are the shoulders on the two coats about the same?

Guess I'll give the M at Hickoree's a shot...return shipping from Boston shouldn't be too bad.

A 5 would work for you in their chore coat, and the 4 or 5 would work in the coat. I am a 40" chest (maybe slightly more these days, a lot of it through the lats), and the size 3 in the longer coat is oversized on me through the body, and just right on the shoulders.

I think that it just depends on the region. Asia is really big. I actually find the sleeves on clothes that fit me to be on the shorter side of fitting (i.e. they fit well, but an extra quarter or half inch would not be bad). fwiw, I have a pretty big, but not crazy wingspan, about 73", and I am 5'11".

ugh i messed up sizing on the chore jacket. ordered a 2 when i needed a 3 and now stylebop is sold out...there's gonna be a size 2/medium being returned to them this week i guess
