We are lucky here in that instance. Out west is suppose to have a ton of great microbrews (Oregon/Washington).

Some seriously good stuff. Up there with the Stone IPAs, though not as much hops bitterness. There's a little citrus tickle on the tongue

Yea, if you live in the northeast, midwest or northwest you're blessed with lots of great local breweries. South of the mason dixon line it's rough though.

Northeast is great. Massachusetts, vermont, new york state, pennsylvania all have a lot of great stuff not to mention powerhouses like dogfishhead in deleware

This Schlafly Holiday Ale is just not my cup of tea. I hate beer that tastes like it was steeped with pennies. For example, I do not like Delerium Tremens. All it tastes like to me is pennies. Of course, I have very limited beer experience.

Left Hand Brewing Co. Milk Stout - tastes more like a porter than a milk stout. Which would be good if I wanted a porter...

Love the Chimay. Reminds me of Europe. Wish I didn't have to pay 5.50 for a 11 oz bottle.

you werent by chance storing your beers on their side in the fridge... if so that would explain the schlafly

I stored it standing up in the fridge, so the beer never touched the cap. Maybe it was storid on its side at the store. I really think it was a taste issue - I don't enjoy that kind of beer. Whil others may find it to be great, it just wasn't my style.

OK got a hold of Bourbon County stout, 2010 and 2008, and it made me wish for the 2009. 2008 was a bit too sweet, and 2010 needed to mellow a little more [IMG]

Props to City Beer for actually getting them. Crazy high alcohol content tho. A bit too hot for easy enjoying. Definitely a sipping beer.

Sooooo beer month in the Bay is coming in Feb. Anyone up for trades? Pliny the Younger, anyone? [IMG]
