Most beers do a bit better. These beers didn't taste even a bit alike, they were in completely different leagues. I believe it could be because domestic and export stock may be different.

Except for the weiss beers and many Belgian beers, which are bottle-conditioned. I've got to put a disclaimer on this statement, though, because I talked to a lot of Bavarian brewers, and many of their opinions or statements of facts varied considerably.

Couldn't agree more with you comments about Belgian. I had draft Chimay white and it did not taste as good as the bottled Chimay.

I rarely drink except maybe once a day, but when I do, I usually go to one of these three:

Bell's Two-Hearted Ale
Three Floyds Alpha King (when I can find it)
Sierra Nevada Big Foot (when available)

I also really like the Victory beers, especially Hop Devil, Hop Wallop, and Golden Monkey.

+1 for Chimay and Duvel. Moinette is excellent, too.

-Fullers ESB real ale...must be my all time favorite beer.
-Sierra Nevada IPA (Draught is heavenly and bottled stuff is pretty damn good too)
-Gulden Draak barley wine
-Our native Koff Porter (I like mine well chilled)
-Cantillion...anything. Lovely Lambics.
-Chilled Hoegaarden for those scorching hot days (we may have 0-1 per year)

...and tens more labels I can not remember right now.
