I will be in southern California next weekend. Other than Pliny the Elder, what regional beers should I try? We already get Stone, Ballast Point, Green Flash, Dogfish Head in Texas. Looking for something I can't get locally.

Tried some Ommegang Iron Throne. It was drinkable but completely unremarkable. Fortunately, it was only $3.50 at a local bar.

I forgot to add drakes to the list of Cali beers to try.

Little sumpin sumpin is good. I think Lagunitas sucks and undercover investigation ale are better, but that's good shiz.

I honestly don't know much about Lagunitas... had just heard the Sumpin Sumpin was pretty good and have been wanting to try it. Haven't been in Cali too long so I'm still getting acquainted myself. :nodding:

Thanks for the suggestions. Lagunitas and Firestone Walker are both here in TX but I will keep my eyes peeled for the other stuff.

Dark Lord day this year was far far improved from last year. I actually had a really good time. It expanded outside the brewery grounds so it was way less crowded and they fixed the stupid lines for everything. I drank 2009 vanilla bean dark lord, 2013 dark lord, and moscatel dark lord on tap. I also got my bottles plus a bottle of the port barrel dark lord. If you can get tickets I recommend going next year. I wouldn't have said that based on last year.

Driving a rental one way, flying back. Adds like 50 miles to the trip to swing through Philly, probably do that.
