There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Nice.

Had a couple tonight. These were tasty, but the un-photographed Belgian Pale Ale was my favorite:

Also had this, which was everything its name implies:

Ballast Point Victory at Sea. Really excellent and remarkably smooth at 10% ABV. I will definitely drink more of these.

Had dinner at the Deschutes Brewing Company Public House in Portland. Had an elk burger with sweet potato fries. Dessert was a strawberry-rhubarb cobbler with ice cream. The beer was the star though, of course! I had the Two-Step IRA, which was pretty dang good.

It's a really bad habit on my part but when I walk in a brewery or brewpub or liquor store I fire up beer advocate and buy something with high ratings I haven't tried before. Can't buy every thing and I figure something with high ratings would taste better than something random. Well today I bought a random six pack from a brewery

It's not a great beer but you know what it's actually pretty decent. Has a nice sweet maltiness a little reminiscent of the malt in light beers but darker and sweeter. The hop aromas aren't crazy in your face but it's present and nice and refreshing. There's a lingering bitterness that's up front. Definitely American in style and a very typical pale ale.

I think I might just buy random things sometimes instead of being a ratings whore and see what I get. If it turns out it's a bad beer then I guess it'd still be a good experience and help me appreciate the better stuff more.

That being said I am very tempted to buy a bottle of the rogue voodoo doughnut beer in a pink bottle. Like how bad could it be? But then again I don't want really want to pay money for something I would drain pour

Viewing the ratings doesn't seem like a bad idea. I'd probably do it but, for some reason, I really can't stand Beer Advocate, and it seems like nearly everything gets really high ratings on Rate Beer. I generally just take fliers on things that look or sound interesting. As for the Rogue Voodoo, my wife grabbed a bottle when flying out of Portland a while ago. I tried a bit and really remember nothing except maybe thinking it was kind of gimmicky. But that's just a guess.

Yeah I prefer beer advocate cuz rate beer rates everything so high. You know if it gets bad or mediocre reviews on rate beer it's actually pretty bad. I've heard people saying the voodoo beer is like nail varnish/acetone in a bottle or that it's legit the worst beer they've tasted and it's made me really curious.

Agree BA>RB, but usually find i disagree with the herd anyway. Not that my taste is refined... I just seem to still like stuff that doesn't get hella' hype, whether the hype's deserved or not. There's so much good beer our there. Sometimes it takes away a little of the enjoyment of the bird in hand, when always chasing after the two in the bush. I mean, I get the chase is half the fun...
Shit, I'm just rambling now after two Sculpins and two Calicos. G'night.
