Yeah that one was okay...sort of weak and anticlimactic after the Maharaja. So, I'm finishing up with this...

    Tried a lot last night

    Founder's Red's Rye-Awesome
    Short's LupaLicious-meh...Ok
    Short's Nicie Spice-Way too sweet
    Rogue Mocha Porter-Good
    Short's Pandamonium-Alright
    Stone Pale Ale-Good
Southern Tier 2x IPA- The women at the beer store rec'd this....was fucking awful--I poured it out

I was actually really excited to try some Short's stuff and was left very unimpressed. Anyone else feel the same way?

i need to look for Short's Key Lime today. I thought Strawberry Shorts Cake was ok.

I much prefer the winter selection. PB&J, Cup a Joe, and Woodmaster are pretty good.

They had an Anniversary Ale in the spring brewed with blood oranges that was nice.

They definitely have some odd creations and I can appreciate that, but i agree, not all come out that great.

I can appreciate that also. I just was expecting more from them. I don't know why though. The nicie spice was just cloyingly sweet. Founder's brews a much more balanced beer IMO.

give the winter ones a shot. cup a joe is delicious. it's not around anymore but the freedom of 78 IPA from shorts is really good.

What do you think of Lupa and Pandemonium?

Lupa isn't bad. I don't like it as much as Founder's Centennial IPA though. A lot of bars around me are hopping on the craft brew thing an Short's seems to be a popular pick, so in the summer i've been drinking Lupa. I've had better, but i've had a lot worse.

I don't think I've ever had Pandemonium. if i did, it didn't stick out.

Was that Red Rye the one you were telling me about?

I really don't like any of the Southern Tier brews besides the stouts. The stouts are fucking fantastic.

^negative. something different. Red Rye is good but quite common. Do you not have access to any Founders? btw, I threw in a regular Breakfast Stout so you can compare to KBS.

Red's was what I was telling you about. When is Breakfast Stout being released? I'm looking at brewing my own version.

Red's has more of a rye taste than terrapin rye.; Both are awesome though. I just looked at the BA rating on Beer Advocate and it has an A-. I just don't get it....the beer made me want to vomit.

Founders announced their release date for their CBS. October 3, 2011, with a taproom release party on October 1. Anyone willing to get me a bottle or two? It sounds fucking delicious.
