1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

BarneysWarehouse has extra 30% off shoes which includes these Plokhovs, curious if anyone knows how these fit?

what's the diff between donkey, kangaroo, calf, and horse leather? horse would develop a nicer patina over time than calf but would be generally be stiffer as well. where do donkey and kangaroo fit in?

any other reasons to go with one leather over another?

i actually asked that exact question here: LEATHER QUALITY AND PROPERTIES thread and it seems that "Kangaroo is thin, lightweight and yet has the greatest tensile strength of any leather known to man given its thickness."

Roo is thin and pliable, but doesn't hold shape as well as others. Nothing like a pair of roo derbies in summer.
Calf is luxurious and generally soft.
    Horse is thick and tough.
Not a clue about donkey. Probably similar to horse.

Most leather choice is preference rather than utility.

Actually wasn't their a discussion that donkey stretches the least is more shiny at first but becomes matte over time.

Either way I went with donkey on my Guidi's because of then color code I went with I wanted to show the variations in color and I liked the full grain.
