They are both bison - the pn\p is a bit more distressed in the grain and has a slightly heavier wash treatment.

I think the dry gainy look was what the boots were suppose to look like. Pnp takes pics of items as soon as they arrive so their pics are not of a pair that has been sitting on a shelf.

I'm not altogether sure what we're arguing about- but there are a few things that should be clarified.

    1. They're the same boot. When mine came, they looked dry and grainy. The right boot, as in PnP's picture, Lazzari's picture, and mine (though less discernable) is more grainy. Lazzari's single boot picture is of the left boot. Mine looked like PNP's picture when it came, and I while I do believe in beating boots to shit, I don't believe in not caring for them.

    2. It is possible that the dry/ grainy look is what they're supposed to look like, but I'd caution anyone away from calling them heavily distressed. The grain is obvious, but not ridiculously so.

    3. I think I was originally arguing that the leather wasn't/ isn't rotten. It isn't. The leather is the same leather.

There may be a real argument here about caring for/ not caring for leather that is part of boots. I fall easily on the side of caring for it with things. This is a discussions I would be interested in having. Whether or not my boots are Bison (they are), or the same boot (they are) or what they are supposed to look like (I think we can agree that part of the point of leather boots is to wear them your way) are discussions I am less interested in.

^Is it possible to vibram those split heels? Or any way to protect them from wear and make them less slippery?

Remove the rubber portion and the layer of leather on the heel after the split and add a regular vibram heel.

BTW- Any sz 42's out there ( I will have these available shortly) Cdiem & MA+

No. The only footwear Carol is involved with is the rubber dipped sneakers because he dips them himself cause he thinks his staff don't do it with the right gesture. My source is Carol, your source is the internet.

There is no arguing, just discussing. BTW, which season are they from if not AW12?

Whatever the intention behind the treatment, it looked horrible on the shoes I saw. I didn't say the leather was rotten, just that it looked rotten.

I still find it odd that they needed to be conditioned out of the box after paying so much. I have worn both my Layer-0s in Seattle's rain/snow and they have been fine. Oh, and mine were on the shelf for over a year before I got them.

They are AW12- I have the buyers PDF. The boot is available in buffalo and calf, dark grey is the only color.

It sounds like I was wrong about the season- I thought I'd seen them on PNP before AW12 stuff was generally up. Sounds like I was wrong.

Out of curiosity, can you post any pictures of the worn in Layer-0's? I'd love to see them. Also, and in a question more relevant to those of us in the emerald city... why do you get vibrams/ resoles done? I've only found 1 decent place...

I read that in Guidi's it's best to go up one or in the case of horse leather even two sizes.
Is this only for the back zipper ones or also for the laced up boots?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Up 1 on backzips and 1-2 on laced, depending.
