Oh wow. Those guys really know the right people to work with. Honestly I think it's a sign of success for a brand to appear in a pretty popular consumer store like that. Of course there are many amazing brands that don't show up at barneys but still. Also $1500+ tax usd is crazy.
As was mentioned before people running the brand now are first and foremost the businessmen. Of course they have contacted all important stockists with the right words no less.

Of course, the people who run a business should be the businessmen. There is a common narrative that the businessmen are stifling the creatives, blah, blah, blah. It's just always been easy to point at the money-men and say that they are ruining all the fun. But the business people serve as a necessary counterpart to creatives. The role of the businessmen is to keep the money flowing.

In fashion companies, they both facilitate the creatives, and act as an often much needed "house of sober second thoughts". Yeah, X piece might be super exciting, but you need your jeans, outerwear, and footwear and other "must fill" categories that creatives are understandably bored of designing, but which often pay the bills. Yeah, X piece might be awesome, but there is a limited market for leather jumpsuits, etc...

I'm glad Jun Hashimoto bought the license and I'm glad Altieri sold it. Obviously he doesn't care. I'm just glad to be able to buy some Carpe's in size 45. I wish he'd bought the rights to the clothing patterns. Right now we're looking at lab coats going for $750 on grailed. Ludicrous.

My sentiment about the Cdiem relaunch is similar to @fistinyoface, I'm happy to be able to get s21m in a 44 which i can never find previously. I expected the company to just continue with 'greatest hits' but the ss18 preview was just a WTF and made me not happy with where its going. Hopefully they keep up with the footwear aspect at least. I do like a lot of the other models.

Yes, of course, just don't forget cutting production costs by changing the material, switching from manual to automatic production etc. etc. is a very important part by maximizing the profit.

Not sure if they have actually bought any rights to the clothing patterns but they do make clothing too, as well as various shoes from Altieri post-CDiem.

Who cares if there are models you don't like? Ignore them and buy the ones you like, it's not like the classic models are being phased out.

I thought it had been pretty definitively established that Hashimoto did not buy it?

Hashimoto bought it.

edit for newp: Yes, they produce clothing because it's Jun Hashimoto/WJK. No repro CDiem clothing items yet. I doubt it will happen.

I haven't seen their clothes closely, maybe I will visit their showroom in January, but the style from photos is the same/similar. So these are WJK items under CDiem brand? Okay.

As far as I know, being told by a Japanese stockist, they're only producing footwear. There were clothes shown but they're from Jun's regular line. No word on whether he will re-release CDiem work, but it seems not. Discounting the leather jackets and coats from the first season.

This is their showroom photo from their instagram and the label seems to be CDiem.

So it's definitely being sold under CDiem name.

****. You know what? I saw that photo and didn't even notice the tag had CDiem written on it. I stand corrected.

And, I should add, I have not seen that particular jacket cut from CDiem before. I guess we'll wait and see if he's using old patterns or knocking out his own designs with the Carpe tag attached.

Would a typical Barneys shopper be interested in these boots at that price point? Will they even know anything about Carpe at all?
