from what I've heard from several people who visited some of the trunk sales events... unapersona (sorry, won't use the stupid ancient 'v') was a bit of a mess. conceptually it was barely interesting and the execution was not very good at all... but they all bought m_moria shoes during the events so it's not like they are haters. Anyway...

disturbing to see a few unscrupulous sorts raping someone else's body of work like this. yes, they've paid for the brand name. but between alluding participation of those not in the picture to help legitemise this rubbish & flat-out knocking off avantindietro & memoria designs - things they've never paid for nor asked to use, this is pretty shameful.

y'all, this is worse quality than wjk with a carpe stamp. caveat emptor.

The bolded part is purely speculation. None of us have any idea what the agreements between the various parties were. Just to put out an alternative scenario, it's possible that the shoes were designed before any rift between the companies, or even that the shoes were originally designed by whoever is designer for C Diem now. We simply don't know.

This new "CDiem" copies the design of m_moriabc and avantindietro, not old CDiem. These designs were created by Altieri after the CDiem label was closed. There was some involvement of Alessio Zero from Layer_0 but he isn't related to this new "CDiem" in any way.

what if i told you it wasn't?
avantindietro field was a project undertaken by alessio zero with limited participation from elsewhere, mostly in form of the left-over buried deerskin and horsehide left in a field near the original production facilities. the connection there was the material used. here the connection is the brand name 'carpe diem' purchased by certain persons. this does not mean that they are limited to producing and marketing yesteryear's designs under that name, but using someone else's work that falls outside such scope is more than simply unfortunate.

in the end they're marketing to a fairly limited number of people. and, at least with some of these people, the way to realized product matters as much as the product itself. therein the purpose of these posts.

Btw I agree this is a shitty approach. I was hoping for just CDiem reproductions to exist going forward not extend the name into shitty products

of course. as a consumer, its ultimately up to you to make these sorts of decisions. but, with a lot of these purchases made online, there is a bitter note struck when someone buys the name attached to the memory of something dear, and goes on to make pale imitations, moving further to lift more of the person's creative endeavours for a quick buck made off the unscrupulous. the joke here is that the 'baller thread' that so often veers into monadic obsession with 'artisanal craftsmanship and quality' is coming out in support of hasty pudding that makes the nothing-to-write-home-about original carpes look like masterpieces by comparison. have you actually handled any of these new ones, my drizzle?
