Beautiful pieces. A few of my favorites from my collection/classified. I have a thing for not just prints, but actual scenes.

I love Hawaiian shirts with leather jackets. I don't know what it is about the combination but when it works, it looks really nice.

I've also been pining for one but I haven't found the right one yet.

Can someone tell me which are the high end aloha shirt labels? I see Tori Richards, Tommy Bahama, and Kahala everywhere, but I am looking for something more higher end.

I don't believe any of those manufacturers are really considering very high end if you're talking about the true top notch stuff.
I would look at Sun Surf, Star of Hollywood, John Severson, and Flat Head's Limited Aloha line.

Bumping this thread after almost a decade...

I want to buy some aloha/hawaii/camp shirts and I am looking for some advice.

  • What are the lower tier, mid tier, and top tier brands for these shirts? In terms of quality/material used for the shirts.
  • Which brands have the most unique designs?
I did some research and know this:

PACIFIC LEGEND = low tier? based on price
TOMMY BAHAMA = mid tier? based on price, however, some people claim it's low quality
SUN SURF = top tier? based on pricing and their, in my opinion, very unique designs

Quality is the most important factor. I prefer to spend more on a shirt that will last a long time over something that's poorly constructed.

I don't own any but I've handled some by Two Palms and they seem like an incredible value. They're around $50, made in Hawaii, pattern matched pockets (a detail they're rightly very proud of), with traditional prints in actual Rayon.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked it up and those shirts look nice. May order two.

In the meantime, I went ahead and purchased this Sun Surf shirt:

Will report back on the quality when I receive it, maybe others are interested as well.

Should be good though.

Every time I go to Hawaii I think it's a good idea to pick up a couple aloha shirts. Then I return home to the PNW and never wear them again (or until I go to Hawaii again).

Thanks for the suggestion. I love that website, looks like it hasn't changed in two decades. There are some amazing prints there! Bookmarked =]
