Any opinions? I have convinced myself one way and the other multiple times [IMG]

I think it's the ensemble that matters. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Ah okay! I was of that opinion as well. But, I just wanted to know that there were not any rules against this type of pairing. Like tan footwear with black trousers or a jacket. For some reason I kept imagining the 405 to be much much lighter than 403, but in some of the pics 405 is not all that light/orangish.

^^in general, rules are there for those who play it safe and/or don't have the style to pull it off. look at the italians - they will pair anything together and look perfect.

fyi - i polish my 405s with a little allen edmonds walnut shoe cream and the boot's color is now much closer to the 403 without having the pullup effects. my boot wasn't very red, so i don't know if it would work for all 405s. it's tough to keep the contrast stitching clean, but it still looks great. you could try that.

    This is great.

I was just about to ask about polishing my 405s. They are the pumpkin red ones though, and I was wondering what polish to use. Is there a matching polish for the pumpkin red, or will it change colour regardless. I was thinking about either Kiwi dark tan, or tan, but I know they would alter the original colour a fair bit.

Is there any advice on keeping the stitching white, or is that just collateral damage?

I wish BB sold shoes in different widths online. They have some nice stuff but none of it will work for me...12D is too small but 13D is too big - I need a 13A or B.

    Those aren't Aldens, they're Florsheims.

I don't know what they are but you're right, they're "imported" so they're not Aldens!

If the MIE ones are the same manufacturer as the Navy/White ones they had a while ago, they're made by Grenson. They run slightly big.

The Alden made black scotch grain ones on the Grant are also on sale.
