People have used brown shoe polish to change the color over time.

That is what I was thinking, or brown shoe dye. Perhaps I'm not the only one that doesn't like the white stitching. There was a great pair of loden colored boots at Unionmade - but size 10 is already out!

I have a question about special edition shoes:

Anyone know of companies/retailers that would take orders of specific sizes/widths when they send their orders to Alden? Most of the shoes are D widths or start with size 7. Unfortunately, I wear a 6E on Barrie and I would like information if retailers (e.g., LS, ShoeMart, UnionMade, etc.) would take this type of request. Thanks!

For what it's worth I think you did a great job on the Hallecks - I love the light antique edge and the lack of speed hooks. The boot looks almost cigar in the pics though.

Sick service. I called late Wednesday evening, shoes arrived in New York today. Kathy threw in Alden brown paste wax, an extra pair of laces and a shoe horn.

I like these boots a lot. Few comments

    1) The new cigar batches are coming out a lot darker than they used to (they are closer to #8 than the Ralph Lauren "dark brown" cordovan, for example)

    2) I got 10E in this Grant lasted boot. Grant 10E essentially fits like Barrie 10D. I may have been able to get away with a Grant 10D with thinner stocks, but I intend to wear thicker argyles with this boot the next few months.

    3) I feel like I can wear this with wool pants, suit pants, jeans, khakis, etc; very versatile.

Wish more stores would invest in decent websites... IMO they would pay for themselves rather quickly.

I take a 10 D on the Barrie, but I went with the 10.5 D on the Grant since you purchased the 10 E she had. Can't wait to get them. First time trying the Grant and wanted a sleeker looking boot. Hopefully the half size up from the Barrie don't leave my foot with too much wiggle room.

Does the 10 E on the Grand look as wide as the Barrie in D width?

I would say the 10E is very slightly more sleek than a Barrie 10D longwing. I wear a 10D in a Tremont wingtip, but cordovan boots fit a bit tighter than shoes (from what people have been saying here), so going up a size (either in width or length) seems to work. I think you will like your 10.5D as it will likely be a bit narrower (sleeker) than my pair

I've added the color 8 chukka to my cart a dozen times over the last couple of days. I've wanted them for so long and they never go on sale. There is just no reason to not buy this boot for ~$200 off. I just don't feel right buying myself something like this at xmas...seems selfish...however they won't be 30% off after xmas...hmmm
