1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I wear a snug 10D in the Hampton. Would a 10D in the Trubalance be too roomy or should I be able to get away with it?

I'm exactly the same, a snug 10D in the Hampton and a 10D in the Barrie and Trubalance. I say go for the 10.

You seriously wear them laced like that? I think those are too small for you...

+1. They're not sneakers. The only pair that I even lace loosely is a pair of pebble grains, which I suspect the material is thicker, thus making the shoes less roomier than other materials. But even then, it's not as loosely tied as yours.

yeah, definitely lace those tighter....and get some different socks to go with them, you shouldn't be wearing white athletic ankle socks with these.

That is unbelievable--a completely different color (color #3? ha-ha). You could either revel in the fact that you have an absolutely unique pair of shell shoes, or send them back for a refund. IMO what Alden tried to do is yet another example of piss poor customer service. They know good and well how desirable whiskey shell is and they ruined them for you. What a bunch of cheap, pompous, a-holes.

I could tighten the laces but it was getting bit uncomfortable, mostly due to athletic socks. I tried both 12 and 11.5 but 12 was too big and 11.5 was better. I even tried 11.5 in 403. But when I ordered these from online and got them, they were bit tight. So I'm not sure whether I need to get 12D...

Those do look too tight, but my indy boots (both the 403 and 405) stretched significantly. I don't know if that will be the case for you though.

Ryan Plett from youhavebrokentheinternet was given a pair of vintage wiskey bals as a gift from a friend. He send them into Alden for "restoration" and the gave the shoes the exact same treatment. I know if it was me and they made my golden/tan whiskeys RED i would lose my sh*t!!!

    The shoes before ...

I think if you look at it as they will lighten with age, its not *that* big of a deal. Of course, this is the problem with buying a product on the internet sight unseen.
