that's like saying Alden is too sleek b/c the plaza last is really sleek.

I can't imagine anyone thinking the 240 last is sleek or the w/e last the Darlton is on is sleek. they could both easily pass as American style tanks

nah i specifically said barrie, there are only a few lasts of alden i'd actually buy from, plaza's not one of them, at least for daily wear

even something like this http://www.pediwear.co.uk/crockett/products/339.php doesn't really do it for me, that's the clunkiest c&j shoe i could find, double sole and everything. also i think their cordovan shoes are pretty ugly

^ Those Cardiffs are the same shoe, only in calf, as the RL Darlton.
Some C&J are sleek. Many of them aren't.

called me kid and was mad when I asked to try a different size.

"kid i know your size and that's not your size." (it was my size)

as i left i bought a pair of alden shoe trees for my other aldens. i came home and realized he charged me 40 bucks for the trees?!

i went back and asked to return them he goes "why'd you buy em kid?!"

i nearly snapped but maintained my cool and told them they had always been $30. he then told me the price went up.

"well sir, shoe mart still has them for $30."

"shoe mart isn't on madison ave kid! they're in **** kicker ville"

"wow!" i said

i didn't even want to argue anaymore so i just took my voided receipt and left.

absolute hell...i'm never buying shoes there ever again.

it's leather soul, leffot or bust.

And actually leather soul and leffot have more interesting collection than the Madison store ones anyway..., if I want the classic I will just go for BB, better customer service.

ughh, Alden store associates can act like complete dicks. its odd because i have only received this kind of 'service' from the Alden shops. good thing Alden is so widely available at other retailers

The Madison Ave shop isn't company owned - it's an independent (and I'm a sucker for "**** kicker ville" - I love that line).

I'm a little surprised to hear that you've received ****** service from the DC Alden store - my experiences there are the complete opposite: nice people, eager to help. I have to agree about the SF Alden store - some days I'm treated well, some days not so well...

Guys - a head's up that I've posted a pair of the Winn Perry natural chromexcel LWB (with the commando sole) in size 9 B/D in the Buying & Selling section later this evening. Looking for $275 with trees shipped CONUS, payable through paypal gift (or +4% for fees).

only problem is I can't seem to find them in a light brown calfskin. Shell cordovan is out of my budget and I wouldn't be able to wear them for half the year in DC due to the heaviness
