I have to agree, Alden has some QC issues to fix. . .many can be dismissed as normal for a large company putting out hundreds of pairs a year, but a lot of the issues are just inexcusable. They even seem to be making huge errors with special makeup orders for some of the well known retailers that we all to buy from. Things like making shoes in the wrong last, or using the wrong edge finish/welting.

Never seen a defect as bad as the one above though. . .makes me wonder if things are getting worse.

Strange. Did you buy those new? Not sure what happened, there clearly was stitching there at one point because I don't believe they make the holes first. In other words, the holes are created as they sew the stitching in.

    Yes, brand new

Hope the situation works out for you. You mentioned they were in customs for weeks. Where were they shipped to and did you get them from a retailer? If so, I'm sure they will be able to help you.

    Good luck

    Hey Alden Lovers,

This is my first time posting on the Forum. I've been monitoring the site for a weeks in anticipation of joining the team. Last week I received my first two pairs of Aldens. The J.Crew Alden Long Wing in Whiskey and the Tassel Loafer in Calf. I know cordovan is the preferred upper of the site, but still being in college makes my wardrobe extremely casual cool, it seemed a little to dressy for me.

Anyway here is my first of many troubleshooting questions: Thanks in Advance

I was out the other night with my Longwings on. When some goof spilled wine on my shoes. Bummer I know. The next day I used a damp towel to wipe off the stain and now one shoes is a lighter color than the other. My OCD is flaring and I need this fixed. Please HELP.

7118s in natural sunlight on their first day out. Shows the color variation in the leather much better.

I'd call that another quality control issue.

Only by someone who doesn't understand "pull-up" analine leathers.

Chris - the pull-up leather looks great! Those shoes never crossed my mind, but now may be creeping onto my wish list - especially for something to wear in less-than-ideal weather.

They don't look like much in pictures, as they need to flex a bit for the color to flow. I saw them at a trunk show when looking for a bad weather shoe. (And, they were a little over $300 with the trunk show discount.)

Great looking shoes. Nice to see a little love for stock models on the forum.
