from what I have seen the J Crew Indy is the same as the 403 Indy as far as leather goes. Only difference really is the stitching around the heel area on the J Crew boot...and maybe a slight difference in welt color.

OK thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for

Cordo #8 Smooths, right out of the box. Not sure how I managed to live without these for so long

nice shoe. the pant length/leg opening/sock color make the shoe look that much better.

I've heard that cordovan shoes fit looser than calfskin. If my foot is ~EE in the Trubalance, would a cordo E longwing fit? i hate this mail order shoe-shopping nonsense...

For sure not. Trubalance is much wider at the toe box than Barrie. I do subscribe to cordovan = looser though.

I sent a pair back to them recently and asked if they could make a sizing change. They returned the shoes and said they wouldn't relast them. Did you go through a special channel to make it happen?

I've heard on the forums that they used to last to a different width if requested, but are no longer doing so. Maybe someone can confirm.

Definitely my next purchase. Anybody willing to let theirs go in an 11.5D should pm me. [IMG]

By the way, does anybody know when the Context collab of these is going to be re-stocked?

Don't know but have them and they are very cool boots. Was in Context a couple of days ago (ordered the Rough Roy)...nice guys, give them a call or email and ask.

I have a pair of Indy 405's that will need a new heel and sole before too long. Have any of you done this yet? If so, did you go with original or did you switch to something else? I'm thinking about the commando sole (if possible). Would like to hear input! Thanks

Has anyone had any issue with the welt stitching and sole stitching on their new aldens where the welt stitching and sole stitching are sewn a bit off at a certain portion of the shoe and run to the extreme outer edge of the welt and shoe? Is this considered a minor blemish for Alden new shoes or should these shoes have been flagged by Alden quality control? Any thoughts? By the way, first time poster here to this excellent forum.[IMG]

That's a bummer! I would not be happy with that. I would return.

Does anyone know if there are makeups of the Indy with a vibram lug sole besides the 404? I really like how chamois looks but if I'm getting an indy might as well get one with a serious sole.
