I am sure most will say, "they're just shoes......wear them and enjoy", but thats a tough one, especially since I would imagine that the reason you bought that specific model from Leffot was for the antique edge.....in the first pic, the appeal of the antique edge still shines through.

While I agree the quality is substandard, the issue is extremely minor.
It is excess dye on the sole edge.
It can be fixed in about 10 minutes if it is bothering the OP that much.

If he were to contact Leffot about it, they may say send them back, but he could ask for a ~$10 refund to have his cobbler touch them up. (Hell, I would do it myself, honestly)

I agree that it is minor and would definitely keep them myself.

Howeve, but I am sure it is dissappointing when that is the feature that differentiates that particular make up.

Thanks, gents. They are going back to Leffot and they will send them to Alden to redo. So, my "cobbler" will likely be them given that the fix will (Hopefully) be straight forward. Agree on the comments that the edge is the key part on this make-up so I want to make sure that I will like it 100%.

Plain toe shoes/boots really showcases shell. Beautiful color.

You have just given me incentive to take my washed/sanded golden steep twills for their maiden voyage on a quick trip to the windy city this next weekend. I started with the brolive and liked the steep twill so much I ordered the golden and rust, which are even more amazing.

Many thanks for the welcomes, much appreciated, it's nice to see a place of courtesy and decorum on the web! I haven't mastered the reply and quote functions to thank individuals, but thanks. On the ravello wagon today too here,
RSC LWBs in the sun this morning!

What a debut on SF! The chinos and ravello are an amazing combo. Well done. And welcome to SF.

Alden cigar shell most often has such stunning color. Such as Uncle's WT boots just above.

I tell myself I have enough boots but seeing those weakens my resolve.

Yeah...that is the older color 8 on those....more of an oxblood.....which, I really like.

I have the same shoe and when I opened the box earlier this year I thought for sure they sent me black instead of #8

Mine are a deep purple color, those you have there are exquisite for real.

I would like to see some pics of them, in the outside light if that is not too much to ask.

You were fortunate to get that shade!!!
Watchman1-Thanks for your comments. I was not in the market for the #8 PCT shoe, but the color was so vivid and vibrant I could not resist. They had 2 pairs in my size, the other was a very dark #8.

See Ya,
Steve
