1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Just arrived. Fresh out the box and onto my feet. Really loving the NST and the antique edge.

I happen to agree with DV. I wore my J Crew PCTs yesterday. I feel a little uncomfortable wearing them with jeans and some khakis also, but it has more to do with the 270welt/closed heel. I probably don't wear them as often as I should because I usually go fairly casual.

    Hi guys,

I am not al Alden expert, could you help me to understand which is the last of these boots?
They are a model for an italian retailer, model code on the box is 4076 Y and to me they look like a classic Parajumper but with storm welt.
But I don't think they are on the Grant Last, my bet is they are on the Barrie, someone could help me?

    Thanks in advance
    Alex

I've been resisting a similar boot from Hanig's in CXL w/ commando.

How does standard calf / CXL compare to Shell in terms of durability?

    Thank you!

Very cool to see how my Indys will wear over time. I'm curious, where do you go to just get the Thomas heel replaced?

Those are beautiful. Where did those arrive from? The late-spring preorder from Leffot hasn't come in yet, right?

You can call Alden. They'll ship you a set for about $25, and then have a local cobbler put them on ($15 or so).

Aram at AH One Shoes & Repair has the Alden thomas heel and can resole/reheel with it.

I usually just put the topy on right away. For walking around NYC I would go with the topy only. I think the topy provides adequate protection for the toe and it's not worth the added expense. I have the topy / recessed tap combo on one pair and probably won't do it again. I choose one or the other depending on the shoes.

The question remains whether Alden will accept pairs that have been worked on outside the factory (e.g. resoled) or had topy rubber sole covers added.

Does anyone have an answer to this? I have a few pairs that could use a resole. If I use a reputable cobbler, can I send these to Alden in the future? I have not heard a definite answer on this.

Question for anyone that has / have any size 7.5d aldens' and would like to trade for 8.5d or anyone that is an 8.5d.

I ordered a pair of color #8 Pitt Boots a few years ago and, to my surprise, they arrived, however, I need a size 7.5d. They are brand new, haven't taken receipt of, price is $775.

If anyone has ravello or whiskey in 7.5d or would like to take them for me please let me know ASAP!!

Are your Pitt Boots from the LeatherSoul order that was done back in early '13? If so, I may have a 7.5e incoming if you are interested in those (I haven't yet received word from LS so I don't know if mine have arrived yet and/or if I am going to keep them once I get them).

Correct, they are from LS and the date is correct.

Might be interested, however, I need to unload these beauties: don't want t lose my deposit.

Thanks to all who gave me advice yesterday on my boot purchase. I ended up going with these by JCrew because they fit within the parameters that make them versatile and the price was very good. Thanks again for the time to answer my questions and making a noob feel welcome.
