Just bot some ravello PTBs at Alden NY... They were offering $50 off all cordovan, so the shoe came to $630 (from $680)... It basically covers the sales tax (though I spent most of the discount on shoe trees).

I plan on adding the J Crew roughed out chukka then taking a break. Ill post my #8 longwings and the new ravellos soon

I will say after wearing them for half a day they seem to have softened up a little. They were really hard this morning, such that I could hear my heel strike very clearly. Now they seem not quite as soft as I remember but not nearly as hard as they were this morning which makes me happy. Certainly comfortably wearable now which is good.

Clearly your brothel creeping days are over [IMG]

haha...actually, after two days of wear they seem back to their normal old cushy self. Not sure why that is the case but it seems they just needed some wear to loosen back up thankfully.

If I may ask - what is the average age of the shoe in your collection and how often do you wear each pair? These shoes are all in wonderful condition

For comfort and durability for walking the streets of NYC year round, would you guys recommend a crepe or leather and commando sole?

Flex welt sole. Or the neocork sole on most Indys.

Comfort depends on having a good overall fit, mostly.

I would vote for commando, in terms of year round.
