Seven, thank you for pointing this out. I'm not sure how I missed this. Perhaps it's partially due to not seeing many dark brown suede tassels on this thread.

I'm interested in hearing opinions regarding the relative versatility of snuff vs dark brown suedes. I realize that the versatility of snuff suede has been thoroughly discussed. Along these lines, I initially thought about purchasing the snuff tassels debuting on JC today. However, when I think about the specifics of my own collection, I already have quite a few snuff models (including a wt boot, a longwing, the upl's, and a chukka). Accordingly, it seems to make sense to branch out into other suede colors. The dark brown suede jumps out as a solid alternative, especially given its usefulness when paired with white jeans, stone colored chinos etc. Is there an overwhelming sartorial reason that snuff tassels should trump the dark brown suede? In other words, is there a reason I may have overlooked that dark brown suede tassels would look disastrous in person? Also, am I being silly to outright bypass tan suede tassels? (The shoes in question would likely be for spring / summer business casual wear and possibly for pairing with very casual linen and cotton suits in warm weather). Yes, I know one should buy what one likes; I'm just curious how others have approached these questions.
The Snuff Tassels don't interest me. I don't find snuff to be as versatile as others contend that it is.

(Note: These are the BB variant with foxing on the heel)

It is stock model 666 and is available for order (and perhaps in stock) at any of the Alden shops, plus TSM, etc.

All three colors are nice. I own the 666, as well as a few others in dark brown suede (sometimes referred to as mocha kid suede). I own models in snuff and tan too. Of the three, snuff is my favorite.

For your stated uses, I would lean towards snuff and tan. However, for me, tan is almost strictly a spring/summer shoe whereas snuff and MKS are year-'rounders.

If you have plenty of snuff in your collection, I think the 666 is a viable option.

I like the Dark brown, but don't like the idea of wearing a shoe with that model # :(, the snuff is very cool , I like the BB foxing but the BB has std. Oak sole while the Jcrew and SF have the flex sole.

As far as I can tell, the devil does not reside inside my MKS tassels.

I think @bl@ster bought them recently and posted some pics. They are a great makeup IMO

+1

That alpine grain + brass eyelet combo is striking. Super unique.

I probably don't need to get that cap toe, but I would consider it if I didn't just get the alpine grain NST boots.

I have the choco suede Indy on oiled waterloc soles from Unionmade (brass eyelets)

Sazon, do you have any photos showing them worn on the foot from the front? The brass eyelets are too shiny for me, I usually prefer blind or darker colored eyelets but I am wondering of the brass shine dulls away with wear .

A reverse Tobacco Chamois at Unionmade.(Great Shop)
A Chocolate Suede at North River Outfitters (I have never bought anything from them but I hear mixed reviews.)
Snuff Suede on red brick at Alden Madison. (Have had many favorable experiences with them as well.)

All 3 of those are on cork. Not sure of anything offhand in a dark suede on commando.

You wrote the snuff suede Indy from Alden NY is on red brick and then write "all three are on cork." As youbjust wrote, the snuff suede Indy at Alden Madison is not on the cork sole that Alden uses for its standard Indy models. As you wrote, the NYC model is on red brick, which is a comoletely different material. The Alden shop in San Fran offers the snuff suede Indy boot on the cork sole. But then again the OP asked about chocolate auede, not snuff suede, Indys.
