1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Love the post by NYI from earlier today in his blue suede LWBs.

I picked these up earlier this year, and returned them after they came in because I wasn't sure I could pull them off.

However, I immediately regretted doing so and was lucky enough to pick up another pair NIB on ebay which should be arriving next week.

I hope that I can rock them as well as NYI and Mdubs!

Well I couldn't find the snuff suede LWB in my size (12.5D) but did find these beauties. Perforated cap toe boot, Barrie last, 360 storm welt, and on what I think are double waterlock soles. Only shame is lack of speedhooks so I might have to have some added. Really nice looking boots.

In an attempt to nail down my correct size I ordered another cxl Dover, this time in 9.5D from the shoe mart. Good news is 9.5 feels right on. Much better that 9. Bad news is this pair is going back. The creases on the toe box are just to much for me. I know this leather and this model will crease, but I think this is too much for what is supposed to be a brand new shoe. They are already on their way back and I have another coming from Winn Perry. Hopefully I will have better luck. The original 9s I got from Alden SF and they were cosmetically perfect, just to small.

Here are the ones I returned, do you think I over reacted?

@usfpaul82 it is your money so you react how you will...that being said those look fine to me. Plain toe CXL and shell are going to get some funny wrinkles/rolls. In fact the only plain toe items I own( I think) that are not suede/rough out or regular calf are a few AE Shell leeds.

    I think for 500+ I would've returned them. That's just me.

I don't think you over reacted if that's how they came and were sold as new. Unlined CXL Dovers crease like crazy. I have them and they developed nasty creases on my first step. Unlined and CXL is not a good combination IMO.

I was under the impression you tried them on and they creased after that.....if you open the box and those are there then sure send them back....i would have kept them though knowing my first steps would do the same.

That's how they came straight out of the box.

I think this depends on the makeup.....my unlined CXL PTBs creased like crazy.

However, my CXL LHS have much more uniform creases.

Maybe the stitching on the LHS helps reduce the creases outside of the flex points?

the original 9s I got that were to small creased very uniformly. I wore them out of the house two times before deciding they were to small and two distinct creases developed on the toe box on each shoe. So when I opened up the box on these new 9.5s and saw that there was already creasing in a sporadic manner I decided they were not up to par. But I agree that the creasing on these can vary, I just prefer to make them on my own.

Thanks guys. I'll be sure to get some action shots when I'm wearing them outside. Can't stop looking at them - going to be perfect for the autumn.
