1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Are the website photos that terrible at depicting color differences?

    * After more research the J Crew is indeed the same as 403's brown chromexcel... but it looks like they excluded them from the sale now lol

Although I'm wearing C&J's with Dainite right now, I'm hesitant to add any more to my collection. They are definitely more slippery than Alden's commando, especially in inclement weather. Rain is one thing, but come icy conditions in the winter time Dainite is downright dangerous. They definitely feel like they ride softer than single leather soles, but double waterlock almost feel softer than Dainite to me. Wear/durability seems to be good though. Commando wins when Mother Nature is at her worst and I all but refuse to purchase a boot without commando soles these days.

Won't work for me. :( (says in the cart "This item is excluded from all promotional discounts.")

I'm in Japan, but selected the US site. Wonder if that is affecting it...

There was nothing I wanted enough to pull the trigger...promo code worked earlier for sure so congrats to those who got something. The waxed long wing was tempting.

I would have bought that and possibly a boot if the code had worked... :(

I recall seeing some stuff like this on Alden of Carmel's Instagram feed earlier this summer, but not this exact model. I would peg them as the late '90s or early '00s from Alden's foray into more casual footwear. Edit: It's hard to tell from your photos, but it looks like the ones in your post are hi-tops or boots? A quick Google search of that model number found a suede crew oxford from the early '00s but these ones don't look as tall as yours. http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g148053270

Those are pretty exotic. Guess they are pretty old.
A perk of suede models is that they are great from the onset. Those look great as well today sir! -Mike

I received my first shell today. Color 8 parajumper from Frans. Beautiful boot, but concerned it is too dressy for my business casual wardrobe? I have been looking at the Leffot or Context tanker but don't move fast enough to get on pre-order. I had decided to go with Jcrew PCT.... but then the parajumper showed up at Frans. While I wanted a more dressier boot as all my boots fall on the more casual side I am concerned parajumper may be too dressy and wonder if JCrew would be a better first shell?

I think both the FB parajumper and the Jcrew PCT boot are both perfect for business casual attire!

The FB parajumper is certainly not too dressy esp. with those brass hardware. You made a wise decision, enjoy them in good health!
