Fellas, how does the Plaza last fit? Anyone can compare it to Barrie and/or TruBalance for comparison? I want a pair of monk straps now to spaz things up!

Monk strap on the Plaza? Is it a special make-up? The "standard" monk strap is on the Aberdeen (and much has been written about how the Aberdeen fits).

Given that whiskey seems to be the sujet du jour, here's a "this or that" for you guys to help me decide on: the PTB or the chukka? To be worn with chinos or denim.

    TIA,
    Mike

Chukka, though I just bought the NST in Whiskey (which I prefer over both).

    Go 1/2 size larger.
    I wear a 9D in Barrie and a 91/2D in Plaza.
9D in Plaza would have definately been too small !

For me, I sized down a half on both the Barrie and the Plaza. I actually found the Plaza to fit better than the Barrie

Are those from Winn Perry? Did you size down 1/2? thanks and enjoy them they look great.
they are indeed the Ranger Moccs from Winn Perry. I sized down from my measured/usual 11 to a 10 in the Moccs. The 10.5 was just too big, the 10 is good but not as roomy as a 10 in the Barrie last i tried. it looks slightly 'stubby' in comparison to Barrie last shoes. but i mean that in a good way -- they are a GREAT, unique, pair of Aldens.

The flash made the colors look more brighter than in real life. Cigar longwings and WinnPerry cap toe boots.

The instruction for caring that came with the Cigars.

I like those cap toe boots. They remind me of the ones I got from Shoe Mart a couple years ago.
Mine are on the Plaza last I believe. I like the pulls on yours.

Zippy- what's your take on the plaza last as far as sizing goes. All of my Aldens are either Barrie or TruBalance with the exception of the #8 cap toe boots, which are on Grant last. I came into the thread one day and someone posted a link to those boots and I had to buy it. Also, how come this Alden thread is in this section and MC has the AE thread? A lot of the shoes here can easily be paired with outfits in the MC. Not trying to start anything, just sayin'. [IMG]

Plaza fits me slightly big but that's okay with boots.
I went 1/2 size larger in Plaza than Barrie/TB.

I think these were my 3rd pair of Aldens. They were actually on sale at the Shoe Mart when I got them for $280 or so.
I got a similar pair in smooth black calf for the same price.

Probably because of the prevalence of the indy boot, which no doubt works better with SW&D. Personally, I prefer their dressier offerings, but that may change.

I've been searching high and low for an Alden wingtip boot with a commando sole (or even a lug), but these seem to be very elusive animals. I wear a 7.5 on the Barrie / Trubalance, I've not had a chance to try other lasts yeat (guessing I'd be an 8 like I am with most other shoes). Has anyone seen anything like this around?

Alden of Carmel had a gorgeous wingtip Kudu but it's discontinued.
