There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Guys - just wanted to share something one of my cobblers came up with to combat heel slippage on my loafers. It is inelegant but seems to work better than anything I've tried so far. Warning, I still haven't figured out how to spoiler in this browser and these shoes are non-Alden. Here's the before. Note the white strip inside the heel of the shoe......

    Here's the after.....

It's simply a piece of foam glued to a strip of Velcro, but it doesn't move, and most importantly, it seems to work. I'm happy because I love these shoes and only listed them for sale because of the heel slippage. This solutions puts the shoes back in my rotation.

Very nice shoe, congrats. Used to think the optimal pairing was the captoe boot and grant last. This shoe makes me reconsider. I don't know much about hampton, but it sure fits the shortwing perfectly.

Here's a question about Alden pricing compared to AE:

Alden and AE cordovan shoes are somewhat similar in price. Let's take the PTB and the Leeds as our examples. The AE Leeds comes in at $650 and the Alden PTB comes in at $682 (a somewhat negligible 5% increase over AE).

My question relates to the calf version of these shoes. The Leeds comes in at $385 and the PTB comes in at $551. That's a major 43% increase!

As far as I can tell there are a few options to explain this discrepancy:

A - Allen Edmonds is giving us a real sweet deal on their calf shoes or...
B - Allen Edmonds is ripping us off on their cordovan shoes or...
C - Alden is ripping us off on their calf shoes or....
D - Alden is giving us a real sweet deal on their cordovan shoes.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    Thanks in advance!

Don, these are amazing. Great pick up! When was this order from? Trying to gauge if this means the cigar WT boots are incoming soon or not. Amazing shade and you wear them well. Congrats!

Mike, these are stunners! Enjoy. You and Don are both are killing it in the cigar shoe game today! Are these TSM?

Nice Ben! You know how I feel about these! These are the perfect Cigar shade. The light is showing them off big time! Details on the pants?

    :)

M58 is what the Brooks Alden shell ptb is on. Fits basically like the barrie last. Down a half size.

I think it looks better myself.

Allen Edmonds produces in a day what Alden probably produces in a month - Alden has less sewing, pattern and construction errors, in many cases may use a better quality of leather...and most important weighs more so for most that right there equals better quality. :)

I am a huge fan of AE and have a ton of them and also have a fair amount of Aldens.......When you get a perfect pair of Allen Edmonds calf shoes or boots you are getting a bargain..the problem is getting to that pair.

Cordovan as far as I can tell is driven by the tannery price and the mythical shortage or horse ass. For the full retail price I prefer Alden shell generally. When the MTO program was available from Allen Edmonds then that is the way I would go to make a shoe exactly as I like.

Does anyone wear their watch on a shell strap? I have an Omega Speedmaster that really wants some shell.

The unlined whiskey looks a little schmutzy in the creases for @mdubs. Are you treating this shell differently than your other lighter shell?
