1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I guess what I was wondering was how much someone selling color 8 LWB for $728, for example, is paying for the 12-24 pair run they asked for. Purely out of curiosity.

Recently, a retailer was offering 40% off list on some leftover stocks. Granted, they were doing it to move inventory, and they were not loosing money doing so.

Our typical $700 shoe is really worth about $350 to the factory

Thanks - makes sense now. Was just interested more than anything. Considering Aldens make up a small percentage of J. Crew's inventory, it's no wonder they can have glitches selling them on sale every now and then and its whatever.

I've gotten a few pairs at a fairly deep discount. Biggest was 50%. I imagine that is cutting it quite close to what Alden sells to retailers for.

Retailers, at least the ones that practice good business, don't just count beans one sale at a time. In reality, you loose some and you win some, and hopefully by the end of the month there is an overall profit. Same applies to one's investment portfolio.

    Want:
Natural CXL boot (Tanker, punch captoe, etc)
    9901
    Color 8 straight tip balmoral
Snuff V-Tip (I already have the snuff plaza wing tips but these v tips look amazing).

Over time my Alden tastes haves evolved... Simple dress shoes during week, casual styles (suede, CXL) for Friday/weekend. Fancier boots (cigar Indy, chock tanker) for fall winter.

Haha, probably. Rare shell like color 2, 4, and some models like tankers, definitely. But in any case, Alden the factory and the retailers always win.

    Yes Sir,

I do not have direct experience with chamois, however from all that I know, about the material, I would say order your Barrie size.

How do your current 10E Barrie's fit in both the shoe and boot?

    Thanks.

I contacted (and heard back from) LS today. They may be planning a snuff v-tip for next spring. Likely Leydon with flat welt. Not quite what I was looking for personally, but thought you might be interested.

Hey hoit, I contacted Tassels HK for you yesterday. Seems they have no plan to remake that snuff Vtip now and they usually only stock size up to 12 and they do not take pre order for non stock size.

Thanks for taking the time sir, I appreciate it! I contacted them too, but have yet to get a response. I would have assumed that they were not planning a restock... Oh well. Maybe I'll see if I can get Carmina or Bonafe to make something similar.
