^ One of my favorite models, Mr DV! A true workhorse. Shame the stock at BB is not being replenished...

BB SW is essentially the Plaza last

(edit: technically the M-75 last, but Plaza shape for all intents and purposes)

So.....I recieved the cigar cap toe boots from DC on Friday and noticed a couple of QC items....am I being too picky, or is this something to be concerned about?

The first is a hole in the edge where the commando sole meets with the leather......it is probably the size of a pencil tip.

The second is a tear in the tongue that goes completely through the leather.....hard to tell the length but it is about 1/4 of an inch.

The hole I could live with but the tear is unacceptable.

IMHO no one will see the tear in the tongue. If you want to send them back on principal, I understand. I would likely keep them YMMV.

I emailed the photos to Alden DC, but have not yet heard back from them.

Is it unacceptable from just a cosmetic standpoint, or should I be concerned about the tear getting worse since the tongue will be under pressure when lacing, etc?

Alden has us by the balls. I would live with both only because of what they are. If they were a stock model, I may not. More because of the tear.

^ This. Grails are graded differently, it isnt right but it is what is it. I should have quoted tif, that is what I was agreeing with.

The tear would concern me. I'm not sure if it could be repaired or not.

I got a boot from Adam with a tear in tongue. I think he marked it as seconds and $50ish off. I didn't wear the boot much (maybe 10 times) but tear didn't get worse. The guy I sold the boot wore it a lot more and then it showed up on eBay and tongue was the same. You should be fine and you could always stitch the hole
