Thanks for the info.  Not trying to turn this into an Ashland thread, but how do you like the size of the fat herbie?  I have about nine or 10 regular cards in my current bifold.  I'm wondering if I need the big one or whether I'm fine with just the regular Johnny the Fox bifold.

I'm very happy with the FH - I was worried it would be too big, but it isn't - it fits perfectly in a back pocket.

There are four card slots on the inside and I typically carry 2-3 cards per slot.

I don't think you can go wrong either way - but I'm very happy with this one.

I have the suede indy with the red brick sole and its one of my most comfortable shoes/boots. I wear them with jeans. I'd wear them with, grey, darker brown or blue chinos as well. There's several variations around.

all the best

Thoughts on the suede indy? What do people wear them with?
This would work with just about any casual to business casual attire: denim, chino, grey pants, etc. I find suede to be extremely versatile.

What makes them second quality? Is that the trubalance or a different last? It looks like the stitching is a little more square in the front.

Nevermind I see the issues in the vamp. I didn't notice at first. Looks like a great catch!

Great looking shell Indys. I had my first "in the wild" sighting of someone else wearing Aldens this morning- a partner at my firm was wearing #8 chukkas on commando. I'm assuming they were the AF18's from AoC. I was surprised by how substantial they looked in person- in a very good way.

That's exciting! I saw my first in the wild in downtown Sacramento but I was way too shy to ask the guy if they were Alden shoes.

Y'know, after wearing my tan calf boots and seeing these calfskin NST shoes recently, I'm beginning to think Alden calfskin may be underrated.
Totally agree!
These were so comfortable right out of the box compared to my other calf skin shoes. May be its just the Alden lasts.

Looks like Jcrew restocked some of their Alden sizes (including the 975). Anyone here has the CXL cap toe boots? Possible to post some photos of what it looks like after some wear? Thanks.

Quick question: in using such paste wax over such high stress areas, don't you get the polish cracking via subsequent wear? Is it just a colored cream that one is shooting for here for such an effect as you describe?

As long as you do not cake on the wax this should not happen.  Most of it buffed and brushed off.

+1. I apply paste wax to my AE shells and I haven't had any wax cracking as of yet. I use very thin coats and typically one light coat does the trick.

I was hoping they they in barrie last, but I think they are in trubalance last. And i just notice two tiny holes on the back. Are there something i can do to make it less visible? Not a deal breaker for me though.
