1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Travelers, do you wear your Aldens to the airport despite having to take them off in the TSA Pre line? I saw a guy unlacing his 405s at AUS today. Trade-offs.

Quote:Interesting, wonder why its only on that model. How'd you even find it? Well, reserved a pair. Like above, figured I had a few weeks to mull it over. Glad the parents are close by and can save me 2% on taxes :) Figured these could be some bad weather shells, then for the savings have them resoled to whatever ones desire is when the crepe gives out.

I wish I liked crepe and more specifically, that leather toe. Seems like it just turns into a big mess after wearing in wet weather.

I try to avoid wearing Alden's on flying days for that reason - they set off the metal detector every time and I hate getting yelled at by TSA when I go to preemptively take them off. I made the mistake of wearing all eyelet boots once - won't be doing that again.

Lately my go to travel shoes have been a pair of Carmina chelsea boots that never set off the alarm.

I travel a fair bit (at the airport now) and used to wear Alden's. It's a PITA though and have switched to other shoes for this reason.

Among Aldens, I think the LHS is a perfect travel shoe.

Quote:Gotcha, I went back into google and searched for jcrew cordovan and those came up as a hit. Even though they aren't on the shoe page at Jcrew. So who knows. I don't think any sizes were in stock so it may just be a mistake or long forgotten webpage that when they put in the promo codes forgot to exclude that one collecting dust. Thats going to be my guess. Or could have an order coming in and forgot to take the page down and didn't write the exclusion in the promo code. The could push it to the fall and that'd be ok with me. I'm in no hurry. Hard to resist a deal.

They were on the jcrew shoe page earlier this morning but they were gone when I double-checked about 1/2 hour ago. My guess is they flooded with orders and took them down, though they are still available in limited sizes for those who are persistent enough to find them

Really wish they were on commando. Reason is that Alden will only refinish with original specs and B Nelson doesnt have low profile commando

Yeah, that's probably what happened. But you're right. A deal like that rarely ever comes around, got to take it. Enjoy them! :D
