There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

LOL! So hard putting a deposit down and waiting so long. What if I don't want the Ultimate Indy by the time they are ready? And I don't want to transfer the deposit on something else?

If it's @CEE88 's plain toe color 8 boot on plaza with commando soles, that's the one to go for now. The barrie wingtip boot is great but also very readily available. I say both, with the PTB on plaza first! [IMG]

Thanks - the available boots both have Barrie lasts and commando soles.

I'm guessing you're looking at the alden SF options? I really like the plain toe boots I got from them some time ago, and they look quite proportionate in D widths

Just snagged these on the Bay for a sweet $227.50. If I hijacked at the last second, a fellow SFer's attempt to acquire these Alden for J Crew, Tan Suede Shortwing Bluchers, I apologize. [IMG]

Does anyone know which last these shoes are built on? Might they be Aberdeen like the 966??

I assumed barrie, but when I tried them on, they were not as roomy as I expected. (They may in fact be barrie, but just thought I would ask. I have not been able to find out on line.) They still fit quite well, but likely no Chupp or other thick socks. Still very happy with them...

If that's the case I would definitely go with the wingtip boot. It is probably my favorite boot in my small collection. [IMG]

Pretty sure they're Barrie from 2012.

WT Boot - more versatile, IMO. But really, you can't go wrong with either.

    Hey fellas,
Thought I'd as the Alden aficionados:

Guys, is the Captoe on Alden's Balmorals(Hampton last) longer than those on AE's #5 Last?
Basically trying to figure out if Alden's Captoe is longer than that on the Park Avenue/5th Ave

Is there a place to buy BNIB Aldens(and specifically the calfskin Balmorals) for <$500?

I thought so too, but definitely not. The second set of pics show the obvious difference.J Crew Tobacco waxed, barrie lasted LWB...

Based on this diagram, I think it most resembles the Leydon last. AoC does have a shortwing blucher on Leydon, but it is color 8 and on commando soles.

If you are asking about the actual length of the shoe, they should be about the same. If you are asking about the actual cap portion on the shoe, I believe the AE cap is smaller. The Alden cap seems to be better proportioned than the AE.

Tough to find them under $500 unless you get them off the Bay. There are frequently BNIB calf versions of the Hampton lasted oxfords listed on ebay.
