On a related note, if the barrie last is a perfect fit (width wise) in my size, for a trubalance lasted Indy, should I size down 1/2 from the barrie to accommodate the additional room around the ball of the foot that the trubalance is known for? Thanks much in advance for any insights.

Most report that Barrie = Trubalance ... my experience with a pair of CXL Indy's was different. I would recommend going down 1/2 size but increasing the width.
Partly because CXL is so stretchy, my Indys developed unsightly pinky toe bulges on each foot ... I feel that going from 8D to 7.5E would have improved the overall appearance.

Very nice sir! Are you saddling up this whole week?

-Mike

Yeeeeee ha.

Trying to redeem for my "rained out" ravello week fiasco.
LOVE the saddles.

Thank you sir.

Those King saddles are freaking awesome!

Thanks beebs.

Wow, I was about to pull the trigger on color 8 NSTs, but I am pausing for a moment to reconsider.  Okay, NSTs are it.  Saddles will have to wait, but maybe not for long.

I would rate #8 nsts as more versatile than these. Get them nsts, hunt for the saddles later.

They feel comfortable. No heel slippage and no discomfort on my toes. It's Hampton last so I went up .5 a size from my Barrie size. I can slide a finger in behind my heel so I'm thinking I could have stuck with my usual 8.5 but that probably would have ended up being tight in the toes. It does feel strange having the laces that close but I figure if it bothers me too much, I can stick a tongue pad in there and that should help the laces spread open a bit more.
Well, if your foot was further forward in the shoe, the lacing gap would be wider. (As in if you stayed with your barrie size). I can't know how well they feel like they fit, only you can.

FWIW, I am 9D Hampton, 9C Barrie. I guess you'll never know unless you try the smaller size, but generally, lacing gap is not the best indication of fit. Length and width can't be compensated for. Height of your instep, which is what determines the lacing gap, can be a little less precise.

These just arrived. Too bad I can't wear them yet with the snow still on the ground outside. Should I be concerned that the laces are tied that close together?

Very nice shoes. The laces and spacing look fine.
Color 8 today... My J Crew PCT boot hasn't gotten much wear in the year that I've owned them, but yesterday's wear reminded me of what a wonderful boot this is. Absolutely love. This pic does not do it justice!
Great #8 stable rtp. I also get excited when I wear aldens I haven't worn for a while. Feels like awesome new shoes.
Good news I got my jcrew LWB bad news they look used. Now I have called jcrew and emailed said pictures and they refunded me half the 519 I paid with tax so I got them for 260 for that price I can except the scratch
Great shoes. Unbelievable price. Mr. Haines, you won today.

Hey, I picked up this pair of Brooks Brothers shoes which I believe are Aldens. They're basically identical to a pair of Alden 683 Loafers that I picked up, including nail pattern on the heel. However, the sizing format printed in the Brooks Bros shoes are inconsistent with the Aldens (Don't have the over/under format on width) and they don't have the "683" style number. I just wanted to confirm what I have here! Would these designations change because they're for Brooks? Thanks!
These are Aldens - not to worry. Alden for BB shoes typically do not have the combo sizing listed.

MRDV - I like your saddles.

I too would recommend the 2210 before the 994. But certainly get both eventually. :D

Here are the pics that I promised. I just found out another defects. The shoe lace on the right shoe is not alighted correctly. BUT I only found out after I started trying them on at home and already have small signs of wearing. Now should I call alden SF to send it back or just keep it?
