That's because 'nice' watches cost a lot more than 'nice' shoes. I only have 1 really nice watch and a bunch of others that I like the look of but cost me less than a few hundred each.

Yup. I don't like that logic that everything you own has to be proportional in cost.

Yeah, I buy what I think looks good or I find comfortable in a price range that does not put me in the poor house. If I had unlimited funds, would I buy an IWC over a Christoper Ward watch? Sure, but I don't so a $500 watch is more than good enough for me.

To be honest with you, that shirt in the last pic was $20 from Uniqlo and the corduroy blazer cost me $60 from Lands End but they fit me well so I'm happy with them.

That's all that matters.

Sorry about wearing my waterlocked shoes in damp conditions and reporting the results.  Resumeth with oogling over NIB and photoshopped Alden pix.

No need to apologize. My guess is that there are many like me who prefer balance and like to hear experiences, both good and bad. Seems ridiculous to think that you were looking for a fight.

Yeah, I go even further. I don't wear a watch. Saves me a bunch.

My watch cost about the same as a decent pair of shell. If there's a watch out there that I would like as much as 10 or 5 or even 3 pairs of shell, I haven't seen it yet.

I'd take one out of any number of Pateks, VC's, AP's, ALS or JLC watches over 50 pairs of MTO G&G's.

Sir, Methinks your collection is enviable as well. You have some gems. Except for those garbage ravello NSTs you wore today. You need to recycle them at the leather recycling plant. Send them to me and I can deliver them to the plant, free of charge.
