All leather soles have issues on hardwood floors, especially if the floors are damp or wet
I will say the double waterlock sole is marketed as having some kind of advantage in wet weather, either in terms of traction or durability (people say that the oiled leather makes it longer lasting against the elements). Honestly I have not noticed any difference in durability or traction between a double leather sole and a double waterlock sole. But many experienced Alden wearers say there is, so I'm probably missing something.
