But slamming someone's auction is exactly what you are doing. And if you were really sorry about doing that, you simply would not do it.

What does it matter if the seller calls them potato? As you have shown so well, the seller included a very clear picture of the shoes so that, as you have shown so well, one can make one's own judgment about the condition. Descriptions are necessarily subjective and, often, open to dispute.

I think El Argentino's point is the photo and the description don't match. I don't have an issue saying I am slamming this auction, and it is an issue to claim lightly worn.

eBay has become a joke in many cases for allowing auctions to be mis-represented, and not holding sellers accountable. While not this auction, eBay allows thousand of fake items to be sold and only does something about it after the fact if at all. The internet in general is clogged with fake items being sold, and little is done about it. My opinion being "a pig with lipstick is still a pig", and it does matter if the seller calls something a potato and it's not one.

It seems like the world wants to operate through rose colored glasses these days and avoid the issues. It's kinda like Obama saying if you have health care you can keep it. He's a liar and so is the seller. But Obama's not alone...every single politician who's on a different health care plan...than that being pushed to the public is guilty. I'm not trying to get off subject, but to slam someone for speaking the truth, and defending someone who's not is simply wrong. I'm just using comparisons to bring out my point...a pig is a pig regardless of what you want to call it . Lightly worn is total BS.

Quick question.. when getting yourself added to a waiting list for Alden boots, do you normally have to put down a deposit? Does this vary from retailer to retailer?

It does vary by retailer, and it can vary if the order is confirmed or not. Most retailers want some type of deposit, or full payment for confirmed orders, unless you've done business with them in the past and have a track record. In more cases than not...you will need to put some skin in the game. You also run the risk of not getting what you want if your name is simply on a list without any type of deposit.

Right... Deposits range from a percentage of the final price 20% to a fixed amount ($100 or $200) to full payment. Some retailers will waive these requirements for regular customers. I used to hate full prepayment, but more retailers are going that way now. As of right now I have 1 unpaid reservation, two partial payment reservations and 1 full prepay reservation.
