Does anyone have any experience with the brown leather Alden of Carmel is using on some shoes? i.e.

http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/index...p_Boot_207.htm

I just can't get a feel of it from the pics. Any actual photos would be appreciated.
Specifically I would like to know if it is stiff or soft, grainy or smooth. Waxy... etc.

The leather is great. Not stiff but not soft like the light tumbled lady calf stuff.

Like robin said the leather is great.

I have the 84s and love them. I don't wear them nearly as much as I should though, hence why I tried to sell them. I'm keeping them though.

I figured it was pretty nice. I'm trying to decide between the brown leather or black shell. For the price I think I'll go with brown leather. Thanks for the pics to those who posted. Really nice.

IMO, go for calf. I had a couple pairs of shell chukkas that I have since sold. They are extremely nice, but given a choice again, I'd go for calf plus 100-150 extra dollars in my pocket. However, I do have my eyes set on a #8 longwing on the plaza last.

Anyone know what size I'd wear in the 405 Indy if I'm a 10D in Red Wing?

I read how someone on the board thought they were a "D", but then got their foot measured and it turned out they were an EEE. I've never had my foot measured and would like a decent fit. Should I go to an Alden retailer and get my foot measured or would a blind buy of 9.5D be fine?

I can always return them, but yea', you're right!

Just have no time, really. And unsure if anyone in the Chicago-land area carries them. Will look into it, tho' - thanks!

What kind of Red Wings?
I wear the same size in RW Gentleman Travellers as the Indy.

Classics.

Just bought the Iron Rangers in 10D as well and considering your question, I'm hoping it's the right size.
