If you check their website returns are for 90 days. 365 days no longer.

I spoke with them over the phone in the past week, returns are still accepted within 365 days even if it's not advertised that way. I am sure they have no problem getting back Aldens but some of the other brands they sell may changes styles seasonally and it may be better for them to not get returns almost a year later.

Yeah i'm kinda leaning thowards this. It seems easier through J. Crew. I'm just a little weary on the color. Is it just me or do they seem a bit orange?
The color is different than on the J Crew site. I think it is lighter IIRC.

    Here are gnatty8's J Crews:

Yep, the color in real life is different than that of the website.

Rats, I didn't know about the 20% off working on Aldens. [IMG] And there I was, trying to save myself a penny by using the in house red phone to order, lol.

Fellas, the Grant last fits true to size, correct?
I believe so. But I have a pair of these:

    http://www.leathersoulhawaii.com/200...le-grant-last/

And the toe box seems narrower to me than my Plaza's so it is often a hard shoe for me personally to wear. I am fine on the left foot but it is pretty tight on the left foot right on my pinky toe. I wear these shoes a lot now but with thin socks and hardly notice it.

Just my personal experience. Good luck.

I would personally fgo with the dark brown. I have a pair from Tom and it is a great shoe.

Thanks for the help. As of now, I only have Barrie and TruBalance lasts. Thinking about treating myself to a pair of cap toe shell cordovan boots. [IMG]

Dark brown is a very versatile color. I originally wanted a cap toe, but since it's on back order until Feb at ShoeMart, I treated myself to an earlier pair from J. Crew. (Part of my Bday gifts for myself [IMG] )

I bought a slightly used pair of Alden cap toe bals and the previous owner has nails in the rubber heel holes: [IMG] What would be the reason for this? My other Aldens (cap toe bluchers) did not originally come nailed at the rubber heels.

Maybe a local cobbler replaced the heel at some point?
