I actually had that exact same question...  which model should I go for, the Alden stock perf cap toe bal (9016) or the made for BB version.  I believe it is an issue regarding the snap last versus the Hampton.

Does anyone have a strong feeling one way or the other??  SevenFoldTG?  Uncle??  Thanks in advance...

So dinner at a 3-Michelin star restaurant tonight for the fiancee's birthday in nyc... but its snowing like a motha...

Gotta dress appropriate for the restaurant but need to get around as well ---- AF53s?!  Or too much salt and slush even for those guys?

tigerpac, I think your AF53's would be perfect for a night out on the town in snowy NY. At what three star eatery did you happen to dine?

It took a while to make up my mind on my next pair of Alden shoes. This is my fifth pair and considering that own shell in color 8, ravello, cigar and black and I was looking for something that would go with my dress pants and shirt attire. I am extremely happy I got the #9901 in black shell cordovan. The shoe is person is just very beautiful. Pictures definitely don't do it justice. Black PTB in shell cordovan is so deep, rich and luxurious. Its a shoe I cant help smiling at. Its a shoe that elevates me. Shots before going on maiden voyage. Thank you RTP, Thank you media hound, your video was inspirational and thank you Uncle for your guidance always.

Congrats on a fine acquisition my friend.  They are certainly underrated!

On a related note, my wife told me last night that I need to break out the tux tomorrow night for a law firm Christmas party.  Do you think I can get away with wearing the 9901 with the tux??  I know bluchers are a no-no for formal wear, but I have no other shoes to wear.  I plan on brushing/shining them up nicely.
