1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I got them for 400, seems like a solid deal on a pair on maintained sc. They are from j gilbert footwear? Guy said he used the mac method to maintain them but not sure what that is.

Oh wow, it was hard for me to tell the difference between the Plaza and Grant last from that angle. The Plaza Lasted version (typical one JGil runs) is amazing. That is a great purchase. I am certain that you will love them.

Mac method = brush and buff only, minimal to no product.

How do you even watch TV like that?

I'm sure those shoes drew attention away from the TV plenty of times.

I thought I'd resurrect Mike's collection pic from April of this year (unspoiler to view).

Everyone could donate their uneaten single shoes to a sizing library.

Oh my. All that in one year? @mdubs has become quite an afficionado!

If you had to choose just one pair as your favorite, which would it be?

I don't hear much pro or con about the Alden Welterweight. It is a casual shoe and seemingly built for walking, but what do people think about it? Do you see it as okay to wear the Welterweight with a shirt and tie?

How would you compare it with the All Weather Walker --I understand the only two differences between the shoes is a different sole and the metal grommets for the lace holes. Being that it features a lighter sole, that would seemingly be a good thing. Lastly, the most important question of all -- as a walking shoe, is it really worth the high price tag or are there better alternatives?

Thanks, everyone. There's a lot of experience and knowledge here ...

Yeah, that @mdubs guy is quite an Alden fan I guess. I wonder if retailers love or hate him.

My favorite of his shoes is not pictured there, but my second favorite would be his Ravello LWBs.

What is all your all's favorite Alden made (you do not have to own it)? Mine would be the Ravello Indy on the Plaza Last.

I believe mdubs was suffering from a manic episode for an entire year. By the time he got help (and by that I mean his wife said "Mike, WTF?), his bank account had dwindled significantly - but he had really nice footwear. :fistbump:

agree...I am just starting to appreciate the leather suede combo but that one does not hit home for me...however I do love this one below though I am a two tone shoe junkie - I am sure there are many that would consider it a crime on humanity.

    Mike needs more boots! [IMG]

But I have a feeling he's been working on that since those pictures were taken...

My favorite Alden would be the NST/Tanker boot in Whiskey on Plaza, but wouldn't say no to it on Barrie or Aberdeen either. Second place would be the same boot but in Ravello. A Ravello or Cigar "Indy" on the Plaza (sorry for copying you, Mike) would be up there too.
