1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

My size in the JCrew PCT boot finally came back in stock, so I grabbed a pair and just got them in today. Unfortunately, even though they're both labeled the same size one is clearly a half size larger than the other. Before I call up JCrew I wanted to get your guys opinion on what size you think both the larger and smaller of the boots actually are.

    These are a size 10

Weirdly the smaller boot looks to be the same size/length as the 9.5 Indy boot, but it fits much looser than Indys, which were snug at first but have stretched out considerably.

Are they aligned in the first pic? From teh second and third pics, it looks like a minor difference in lasting - not a half-size difference (which would be pretty significant). Return/keep is your call ofcourse. Btw the shell looks remarkably even in color/texture...

the indys look larger/wider but have a flatter toe/vamp. the 10 Barrie shoudl fit larger than a 9.5 indy, no?

With all due respect, the size could very well be as much as 1/2 size different.
The length difference of 1/2 size is actually not very large. (1/6")
    See below.

In the first pic the heel of both boots are pushed up directly against the quarter round moulding. I measured the bottoms of the soles and there was a difference of a 1/4", so I suspect that it's more likely that one of them is mislabeled. I'm going to have JCrew send me another pair, but wanted to see if I should get a size 9.5 or 10.

Those Indys are Barrie lasted too, so the size 10 JCrews should fit larger, but they look to be the same length and I've also read that the JCrew boots run narrow compared to other Barrie boots.

I'm not sure they are narrow compared to other Barrie boots -- rather, Barrie boots (according to most, anyway) are snugger than a same-sized Barrie shoe. I have the JCrew boots and Leffot Tankers, both on Barrie. I really can't say they feel different. Anyway, that is strange but stranger things have happened with Alden. Hope it works out.

Yes, true. But the 0.5 size up would also show up in overall size/volume, not just the length. Either way, if tanbar is unhappy with the difference, then ofcourse a return is the way to go

Plaza snuff wingtip boots are stellar! The 974 is a diamond in the rough; very underrated. While I would rather have the BB version, the 974 and 9741 are winning me over each time Uncle @mcarthur and mdubs post these pics.
