1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Definitely take it easy man. I got pneumonia real bad when I was a kid, I pushed myself and ended up causing damage to my left lung I never recovered from. Hope your back on your feet quickly.

I love both the whiskey PTB and the leffot Dover. Will be patiently waiting for the next preorder to pop up and got my name on a list for the whiskey as well. Starting to really hone in on what I want.

    Great pics Mdubs, rest up.

Is anybody aware of a list of the different soles that alden uses, possibly along with pros/cons of each?

Already have the whiskey covered but have decided that the Leffot Dover is my next Alden. I have passed on it a few times but am going to pull the trigger the next time I can.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Dubs.

I'd recommend staring at your awesome shell collection. That usually makes me feel better when times are tough. Seriously though, do as Burzan says and get some quality rest. Lots of people relapse from pneumonia just as they think they're turning the corner.

@mdub hang in there my friend. As our friends have already said, take good care and rest up thoroughly. No sense in rushing back only to relapse. The fumes from conditioning 20 pairs of shoes with VSC knocked me out about a month ago. If you have difficulty sleeping/resting, that worked well for me! [IMG]

    All the best Mike...

    Question:

After viewing a picture of Mac's Color 8 Unlined LHS circa 1986, I was wondering if it is possible to expedite the patina process on my Alden color 8's. When I go to the office, my shoes are outdoors 5-10 minutes per day and very rarely are they exposed to direct sunlight. At this rate, I have a feeling its going to take an extraordinary amount of time for my shoes to mature.

Has anyone tried to leave their shoes in a window sill from time to time in order to give them some light exposure?

Is patina only a function of sunlight, or is aging a component as well?
