1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

    There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Hello all, I'm a newbie to the world of high-end shoes! I just joined a few days ago & decided to do some reading (mostly this & the AE thread). I've been pm'ing mdubs like a lunatic so I thought I'd ask others for help as well (thanks for your patience Mike!). I really like the following & will be contacting Leffot tomorrow:
    Also, does anyone have comparison pics of

    Yes, Barry indeed. Btw, for those new to NSTs (like me), the style creates such a narrowing effect (visually) that a Barrie is not nearly as wide-looking as it might be in other styles (which I know is a turn-off for some, but not me :)

    Yes, here you go.

    Whiskey, Ravello, Color 8 (same pair you posted), and Cigar

    The Cigars are unusually dark and a special version on the Plaza Last.

    "king" is forum speak for colour 8. As in, colour 8 is the most versatile and best colour produced.

    @IGotId here are your answers...

    Many folks here refer to Color #8 as the "King". So Uncle Mac, is stating that they are Color #8 LWBs. MrDV's LWBs are in Cigar Shell Cordovan, they are a few years old and are absolutely gorgeous. That pair of BNIB LWBs from @circleslife are from the recent run of Ravello LWBs from Alden DC.

    @IGotId I am down with pneumonia, so I have been just lying down all day today on the couch, besides from my trip to Urgent Care. I have some time on my hands and can't do much...

    @IGotId The Dover pattern is actually made of three pieces of Shell Cordovan, where as Alden's regular PTB is traditionally called a whole cut PTB as it is made out of one piece of Shell. Please note how the curved piece that comes from the bottom on the Dover. I believe the Dover construction makes it possible to be made with unlined shell, whereas the Wholecut PTB can not be.

    Wholecut PTB: Note no line down the side, it is one whole piece of Shell.

    Dover Pattern, note the line down the side, that separates the shoe and it is thus made up three pieces.

    Note: The Leffot Dover is awesome, but hard to come by. Alden DC makes the Color #8 Unlined Dover, just with Black Edge Dressing and it is essentially readily available...

    Are Alden LWBs always made with double oak soles? If not, what are some of the alternatives that have been produced?

    Quoted for future use!

    What's the take on #8 NST Aberdeen Boot Double leather soles. I am thinking TTS vs 1/2 half down Barrie. I see so may of these with other soles like commando. Does anybody actually own a the basic Aberdeen NST #8 Boot? Pictures please. I don't know why but I have become smitten with the looks of this boot.
