How do others here find and keep up with all the special/pre order possibilities? I keep seeing awesome Alden shell boots and shoes that I would love to own, only to learn that they were part of a pre-order and not available. I also have read about people paying for a pre-rder and years later it still hasn't been fulfilled.
Does anyone here keep a list updated that you can share with the group? Maybe a special thread with the PO list and deadlines?

no community list here, atleast none I've ever seen. some retailers (leffot off the top of my head) will post preorders on their website. otherwise, best bet is to call the retailers and inquire. there may a spot you can fill, or put your name down and if extra inventory arrives, they'll hopefully call you.

what you have read is right though, concerning long wait times. some here are 2+ yrs on makeups. I'm only on one preorder (currently at 10 months).

otherwise, just check the forum frequently and you'll pick up on the arrivals/sales from other posters. most recently, the shoemart sale.

I have had great luck working with the factory stores, SF and DC, and theshoemart. Like previously stated, a lot is about calling them or visiting them. I happen to go to SF and DC a lot, so that has helped me to establish a relationship with both shops that has paid off tremendously...

Nice Dalton's. I notice that yours have a row of stitching around the inside of the broguing as shown in the side view, that I have not seen on other Dalton's. Makes the look more similar to the Brixton. We're they some kind of special makeup?

Your "cheap" comments reminded me of a conversation I had recently with a friend about matching the quality level of one's clothing (in a non-business, casual context). He was arguing that you should never wear "cheap" clothes (in this case it was some Dockers D1 chinos) with boots as nice as shell Indys. I thought it could work (and have done it!), but what do you think?

Is this the equivalent of putting the $2000 stereo in a $500 car?

Is there a model number inside? It actually looks like nicely patina'ed Color 8 to me.

I recommend using Saphir Reno and if unsure of color, you could stick with their neutral cordovan cream.
