1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

They are on their way to a good home. I mentioned the Ask Andy thread from years ago, and the 9073 in it seems to have a similar base color.

I personally think no Indy should be on the Trubalance last. So, these Barrie Indy boots are awesome. Beat them to hell and back!

(And I think you sized correctly on the brandy shell—7.5—your forefoot should be touching the vamp somewhat. Relax.)

Yeah, these are quite special. Definitely daily driver status.

I'm actually at an 8 on the Brandy's now - it's not the vamp (which feels spot on), but how my foot rests at the flexpoint that has me concerned on my 7.5s.

Why is that? Aren't the Barrie and Tru Balance last essentially the same? Or is the Barrie narrower?

Barrie is sleeker than the TruB, even though many wear same size in both, myself included. TruB is clunkier and stubbier looking.

Stitching on the Barrie Indy toe is a nice, tight curve. On the TruBalance, it looks like a curve that started to flatten out. Actually, the stitching on TruBalance isn't aligned with the silhouette of the welt.

I guess it's personal preference. I like the Tru Balance last and since the Indy is a work boot it makes sense. But, a Barrie lasted shell Indy makes sense too, but I see this as more of a dress casual boot than a work boot. Who the hell is going to do yard work in $700 shell boots? ^^ I would imagine that not many people do yard work in a $500 calf Indy.

I wouldn't hesitate to beat on my natty captoes.
    I do, in fact.
I have also seen some rather harsh wear on a pair of @sazon 's boots (albeit OSBs)
I also recall a gent on here doing some heavy yard work in his cigar Indys, and then cleaning them up to look beautiful.

Well, it is the Mac Method repurposed. And one helluva lot more fun. Or ridiculous. Or both.

Thanks for the background Alpina. Definitely made for an interesting 4 minutes and fifty-five seconds.

Not sure how I missed my first shot at Whiskey Wednesday. These are breaking in quite nicely.

Shell is a workhorse shoe - boot .. no need to baby them .. I have worn mine in all conditions and they all still look great. This is mainly the reason I even purchase shell. They are shoes and boots .. Not fine art. They represent a value in footwear in addition to looking great all the time .. Oh and the low maintenance vs calf.. :nodding:

+1 shell is stylish and utilitarian, not to mention very low maintenance unless you want them look like mac's all the time. Or Mike's
