1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Fok on behalf of the entire Styleforum team

People on this thread are too harsh with sellers of Aldens. This is an Alden forum after all. Live and let live. It's not like it's spam...

I agree and disagree with the whole "PSA I'm selling something" thing. I don't mind because I only check the marketplace maybe once every couple weeks. I do mind because if we let it go then this thread becomes another Marketplace.

I think that it is also against StyleForum rules, although I haven't actually read the Terms of Service, so can't say for sure.

Yes, it is against the rules. I've only seen it enforced by other members. Unless there is other diciplinary action being taken.

    Hi gents,

Question about sizing/fit with regards to shell shoe vs shell boots.

I'm between a bannock 6 and 6.5, width D or E. Shell LWB Barrie on a 6E fits perfectly, in fact it's probably the best fitting shoe I've owned. Both the length and width are just right, the balls of my foot is at the widest part of the shoe, and there is no heel slippage. I also own a pair of shell chukkas on Barrie, my pinky toe actually rubs the side of the shoe somewhat. While it's not terribly tight, it does hurt after 3+ miles of walking. This is after 5+ wears, the same never occurred with the LWB.

Do you guys think this an issue due to slight differences in a shoe vs. boot? Or maybe a one-off issue with the particular pair of chukka I have?

In reading this thread, it seems for some people there is no difference between the shoe vs. boots, while others will size up for boots (increase in width or length?) None of the stores around me stock Barrie shell boots in my size, so I can't try out another pair. To give more context, I have several pairs of Barrie last non-shell PTB in 6E and they all fit as well.

    Your opionion is much appreciated!

I am not bothered by it in the least. In the same manner I am not bothered in the least when guys don't use the spoiler function.

It doesn't ruin my day either, but it was probably a good thing to have been brought up so that others are aware of the possible repercussions.
